Forum:Ingrea/Address formatting
Maybe it's time to come up with an official address format? It looks like in the while since I last edited regularly address support was added to OGF iD. As such, I've added an address to the Angle superstore in Hale (45042807).
What makes this a little hard is that iD appears to restrict address fields based on type. For Angle, I could only add:
- Building number
- Street
- City
- Postcode
(Side tangent: "Show address" does not recognize this address.)
Whereas when I was adding the Hale JSFE (45053930), I noticed that I had more fields at my disposal (I've italicized the added fields):
- Street
- Building number
- House name
- Subdistrict
- District
- City
- Postcode
Since some buildings have some fields and some don't, I think it would be good to standardise an address format and postcode system.
Here is my proposal:
Postcode system
Postcodes would use this format:
- The first two digits would be the region number.
- The next two letters would be a unique identifier.
- The last digits (4 is used as an example) would be a unique code for the specific area of town.
For example, a post code in Claedon might be 07CD 0359.
Address format
We can probably use a similar format to the UK. Using Angle in Hale as an example:
1 Angle Road, Hale, 07CD 0111, Ingrea
