Territory ID and proposed name
The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

UL05m∈⊾ƨ - Sardia

Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

Don’t know if possible but I’m Only interested in the west islands, not the full UL05m territory (mainland). Mediterranean style country. Inspired in Mediterranean islands (Balearic, sardinia, sicily, Malta) https://i.postimg.cc/s224gcCq/IMG-2300.jpg

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Not extremely big cities. Around 5m people in all the country. Economics related most of them to turism, gastronomy, wine, a “big” city the capital, and 2 or 3 more. The rest small towns, exception of a tourist-like complex/city. Old european towns style like Palermo, Catania, Alghero, Palma, Valleta, etc

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

A mix between catalan, italian

Past mapping
To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

I’ve been here time ago. i created Welstand Westrijk in 2016 and developed Kirchenburg (actual kerkenburg in Lentia) 56.5095°N, 47.0566°E i ask for the UL05m divission because when i was here, it was too big for me. With a smaller territory i can focus more on the details

  • Hi, Friedrich. Welcome back. Glad to see you again. A few things before processing this forward. Could you provide a bit more insight into what you would be doing with culture, and how it would fit into the established cultural continua? While Catalan and Maltese are somewhat regional, Italian and Sardinian would not fit this far south without good explanation. Are you looking to do a conlang? Borrow something from the real world for your primary language? I'm also a bit concerned with how you will get a full five million people on the islands. Please clarify these things for me, as we might need to look for a better fit depending on what the culture will actually look like. Thanks! — Alessa (talk) 18:43, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
Hi! My intention is not to use a real world lenguage, but make one inspired by some special dilects which work in mediterranean islands like Sardinia, specially in Alghero area, where they talk a catalanish italian, or the sicilian, which sometimes sounds quite similar to spanish. Taking into consideration that castellan and saiol are near, i think is quite understandable to have this kind of lenguage. Also arabic from mazan could be a total inspiration also to include somehow. (Like spamish do with arabic)
in terms of history that is the main point. A few islands that were passing from hnd to hand, being influenced by the invaders, castellanese, from saiol, mazan, or other italian style countries. But this is something that would hve to be spoken later. I agree with you, 5 million are too much. Was just taking sicily as a reference. Demographics are not my thing for sure.
I imagine some things about sardia. Big reference for olive oil and wine (with a world famous wine kind) a big love for gastronomy in general, with special care for sea products. Home of a unique medieval arquitecture style (like mediterranean gothic). With big nd monumental buildings and palces cuse it was really rich thanks to commerce Famousfor being an international vacation place for royals (inspired by Sissi's palace at corfu or the spamish royal fmily in Mallorca, and a nowadays party island (like Ibiza, Mykonos) for really rich people, or just some drumk turist in a out of context turist city i would also like to create (something like Magaluf in Mallorca or also Benidorm in Spain.
i want to recreate this mix between a really traditional and proud island full of history and culture, traditions, etc with the awfull reality of turism. —Unsigned comment by Friedrich Kirchen (talk).
Thanks for the reply. That makes a bit more sense with regards to demography. So, there are a couple of things I'll point out about the culture just as we work out that detail. If you're going to do something close to the Catalan spoken in Alghero or Mallorca, then this location can probably work. But, there are conlangs are in the continuum with Sardinian to varying degrees with Mauretia (a southern Romance conlang itself) and Mitras (bears a ton of resemblances and fits that continuum), which are further up the sea; and something kind of resembling Sardinian on the Plevian islands just offshore Castellan. If you're going to draw more from Sardinian and Italian, would you want to look at another territory further north? Or, if you are going to go much more toward Catalan, we can make something work elsewhere. I might be able to find a more creative solution on the northern side to ensure more continuity. Please let me know what you think here. I am willing to find a solution that works, even if the boundaries are not quite where we would want them right now for this. — Alessa (talk) 19:17, 30 September 2026 (UTC)

Hi there. I'm not an admin, but I suggest thinking up of a different name. It's a bit on the nose, specially with the Sardinian theme you're going for. If it helps, I suggest looking into the etymologies of Mediterranean islands: their sources are interesting and varied. Thank you. --IiEarth (talk) 23:25, 30 September 2026 (UTC)

One of the things I love the most about ogf is the fact that i can map taking a lot of different references. When I started here 10 years ago, I created something that became so Dutch apparently. The truth is that i was studying german at that time, but i wanted something different, cause actually my mapping was not inspired in the netherlands at all. It had a lot of scandinavian countries, but also a lot of uk, france, and spain. I work in costume for cinema and tv and because of it i travell a lot. Most of Kirchenburgs mapping is a puzzle of a lot of references to the places where i was living while shooting films around Spain and Portugal, the place where i was born or Madrid, where I live. Even if I tell you It will be a mediterranean island look alike, the mapping will be free, even if i will take care to make it look reasonable and in theme.

Answering your question, in term of lenguage, it will be more catalan. In terms of mapping…lets say mediterranean.

I was looking around ogf map to find a place to create something, withput any initial idea. Everything came to me when i saw that island there. Then all the idea came. But there are other little territories like UL08i∈⊾ƨ that was appealing, but i saw is a grey country. That case would have been a totally different plan. I was also so interested in making something so Vatican City like…so small, but with a lot of detail. But that have to be complicated to deal inside another ones city.

I just want something to spend some time dreaming about history and urbanism (and also graphic design) haha

I totally understand liEarth’s point. I can think about something else in terms of name
