UL11bƨ (part) - Iniscaol

Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

Iniscaol is a Celtic rooted country with connections to Lentian culture.

The mixed temperate climate along with scenic hills and mountains provide a calming & chilly mood. The south of the country provides beautiful villages and lots of fertile farmland. Meanwhile, the north can hypnotize you with lenghty forests, sprawling shrubbery and winding roads. For those, who prefer staying in urban areas, the cities can be fun to explore with many places to rest & have a sip of... beer.

See the sketch here! (Old sketch, for [//opengeofiction.net/relation/22695 UL11eƨ)]

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Here are some crude points about the population and workforce of Iniscaol:

  • HDI: 0.892
  • Population: 6.527.000
  • GDP: 583.710 billion USD
  • GDP PPP: 596.192 billion USD
  • Median age: 38.2 years

Iniscaol is known globally for exporting beer, meat & construction materials.

Iniscaol does not have a vast rail & motorway network, with most of the roads being classified as trunk or primary. The capital is also the heart of all transport modes, being a major hub for basically every mode.

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

This is entirely TBD, the history will be made along the way in unison with neighbouring countries, sorry! ^^

Iniscaol could be the home country of Iniscaloic (Irish), but I don't know if Almetia is aleardy the home country of it.

Either way, Iniscaolic has some things out of Lentian due to the influence from the neighbours.

Past mapping
To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

This is a link to how I plan to style the country. I am open to make more detailed work if needed!

  • Updated some things. Marazzer (talk) 20:00, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello. I would like to have a few clarifications before assessing this application:

  1. In your supporting mapping, is Sakrzew part of how you plan to map the territory?
  2. I would like to see some samples of rural and/or natural mapping. The current sketch shapes and slinking roads are not sufficient for the application on their own.
  3. What language do you plan to use? Are you going to use Irish or something else? The application seems to state Irish, but a couple of comments made above make me want to know for sure. Relatedly, what role will Kalmish actually play in the territory (if any)? What about Lentian?
  4. If we were to discuss UL11eƨ, what do you plan to do with the existing mapping in the territory, of which there are some slightly more detailed areas?
  5. Given the language spectrum in the region, and the concerns I have above, would you be willing to consider UL11bƨ instead? It would involve less clean-up, more ease-of-access, and you would have two immediate neighbors. It would also ease the pressure to include linguistic elements and allow you to include whatever cultural imports you would still want from the regional powers.

Thank you. — Alessa (talk) 21:25, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello, here are the answers:

  1. No, Sakrzew is just a thing I mapped out of boredom before this! ^^
  2. Okay, I will detail some landscape in that slice of rural mapping.
  3. I'm planning to use Irish, yes, but also add some maybe double-named towns near the border wiht Ingrea due to the huge influence of English there (UL10-99ƨ & UL10-98ƨ could've been Iniscaolic land before maybe some kind of invasion from Ingrea?). Kalmish would've had an influence on the culture & local dialects, which then would have an entire dialect on the south of the country, while the north would speak pure Irish. I haven't thought much about Lentian, so that is TBD.
  4. That is something I still need to think of a solution for... Deleting it would be a lenghty process and there would be a lot of unusuable IDs left after. Leaving it as-is would be kind of conflicting with my plan (I actually like how it looks, Pawl did a great job).
  5. I like the idea, but UL11bƨ is biting off more than I can swallow. I had a country before that was around the same size, and it was more than what I can keep up with... There's no way I would request to split, there are too many countries in WU already, but what I can ask for is to give the northern bit to [//opengeofiction.net/relation/83159 UL12cƨ]. If that can be possible, then I'll take it & adjust my plans to that country. (Here is a draft map!)

Thanks! -Marazzer (talk) 09:18, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

  • Updated the rural mapping a bit. Marazzer (talk) 12:01, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for replying.

  • Regarding UL12cƨ, that would require a split of a territory and creation of a new one, which was your stated reason to not take a section of UL11bƨ. I would rather we reconsider UL11bƨ and not UL12cƨ. I can easily take any remaining part of UL11bƨ and merge it into UL12cƨ. If we were to split off the northern part of UL12cƨ, it creates not only a new territory but a landlocked one. Given the way UL11eƨ looks now, and the difficulty presented to delete or modify the mapping, I think we should revisit the UL11bƨ discussion and come up with a potential division of the territory that makes sense. Based on your proposed population, you're looking at the territory as is. You may need to consider lowering the population a little.
  • As for language, this will be dependent upon where we ultimately land on a territory. Also, do not presume UL10-98ƨ and UL10-99ƨ were Irish before.
  • As for Sakrzew, I'd encourage you to consider keeping it with necessary renaming. It's your better quality work, and it would be good to seed the territory.
  • Regarding rural mapping, I am not sure what was added other than a little bit of marshland. What I'm asking for is land use mapping, interaction of farms and agriculture with natural spaces like woods and marshes, etc. Right now, I only see larger polygons that are rough sketches of natural mapping.
  • Also, at some point, I will request a little more of your urban mapping.

To be clear, I am not dismissing this application on the grounds of what is being demonstrated. I just want to see some more samples and am willing to be patient to bring this along. Please let me know if you have any questions. — Alessa (talk) 19:05, 10 May 2026 (UTC)

    • I should note that another potential solution to downsizing UL11bƨ might be a slight widening of the strait, especially along the western edge of the territory. This would need to be brought up with neighbors, especially Taka, but it might be worth the discussion. I'm putting it here as an initial consideration, and I'll bring it up to the other regional admin. — Alessa (talk) 19:11, 10 May 2026 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for responding.

  • I just wanted to be clear now - what I am suggesting is "cutting" UL11bƨ in half, right at the part where it gets slimmer, and give the northern part (where the city of "Llandwyrain" is) to UL12cƨ, making UL12cƨ have a hook shape, wrapping around Rheim Maark (UL12iƨ). I would then take what is left of UL11bƨ (if that's possible). I will be modifying the population & other numbers as I progress, the ones presented now are a beginning point.
  • I know Sakrzew is good quality, but it has been entirely mapped in a Polish style, way before I've thought of applying.
  • I will definitely be adding more to both mappings, I've been busy with school recently and I couldn't add a lot. Marazzer (talk) 19:30, 10 May 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. That sounds good about UL11bƨ. I would suggest a Lentian substrate rather than a Kalmish one linguistically. This doesn't mean that there aren't cultural exchanges that might have occurred, but Lentian is an immediate neighbor. Taka's use of Limburgish next door might be of interest to you. That said, let's move forward with UL11bƨ. The remainder can be placed elsewhere, so I'm not worried about that. Go ahead and build up your mapping samples when you have time. There is no rush. I'll leave this open for now, and we can reassess with your new plans and samples. Thanks. — Alessa (talk) 01:39, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello, are the current mapping examples enough for a review? Marazzer (talk) 19:16, 16 May 2026 (UTC)
