Marada, officially the Commonwealth of Marada is a sovereign state and a commonwealth of five states in southern North Archanta, formed in 1803 under declaration from the King of Ingrea. Located just north of Mecyna and its canal, Marada serves as a vital stop between states further north on the White Sea and the FSA. Marada also borders the CCA to the north, and AR061 to the East.
Etymology
The name ''Marada" is derived from the Castellanese Mar de Rada, meaning "Sea of Roadsteads" describing the many roadsteads along the White Sea coast. Its current name is a corruption from the 1568 Map of the White Sea by cartographer and explorer Charles de Calminster.

Energy
Marada has one of the most advanced energy sectors in central Archanta, with many state and privately owned energy companies being some of the largest producers in the world. Marada used to be one of the largest coal producers in Archanta, producing just under 145 million tonnes during its 1948 peak. Since the passing of the Energy Diversification Act of 1951, the nation has underwent major energy reforms and has since closed all but 3 coal mines and two coal-fired power stations, all within Roscommon province.
The Maradese electricity grid has an installed capacity of 89 GW. In 2025, electricity generation in Marada was sourced from renewable energy from wind (9%), solar (14%), hydroelectricity (39%), nuclear power (32%), and other sources, including gas, coal, pumped storage, and diesel (6%). Major electricty generating facilities include the Maxim-Roscommon and the New River coal-fired power stations, along with the 18 nuclear power stations across 13 states. Since 1972, Marada has been free of major energy crises.
Because of the large renewable and nuclear energy sectors of Marada (constituting 94% of the total generation), Marada has one of the cleanest electricity grids in the world, and the highest concentration of private renewable energy companies in the world.
Water Supply and Sanitation
The Maradese water sector is dominated by three organizations: the Maradese Hydrological Association (MHA), the National Environmental Protection Organization (NEPO), and the National Sanitation Service (NSS). The MHA operates reservoirs, lakes, and waterways across the country. They provide pipelines to municipalities across the states and operate desalination plants. The NEPO sanitizes protected waters and operates some desalination plants in Oritania and Gustavia. The NSS sanitizes upwards of 94% of the drinking water of Marada, and maintains reliable access to drinking water for the Northern communities. The NSS also operates many wastewater reuse programmes throughout the country. There is a total of 616 sanitation plants throughout Marada.
Transport
Marada has one of the most diverse and extensive transport infrastucture in North Archanta, comprising of many interconnected road, railway, airport, seaport, and pipeline networks. Marada has approximately ___,___ kilometres (___,___ mi) of roads, making it the __-largest in the world.
Roadways
Maradese roads are maintained by two seperate entities: the Maradese National Roads Agency (MNRA) which manages major motorways (M numbered routes), and the Ministry of Road Infrastructure of Marada (MRIM) which manages interstate roadways and smaller motorways. Kliprivier is allowed to manage its own domestic motorways under the Kliprivi Vrystaat Roads Agency (KVRA), and these numbered routes use V instead of M.
Maradese roadways are divided into a hierarchy of four categories: national routes which connect major cities spanning Marada, state routes used by Kliprivier, provincial routes which connect smaller cities and towns to the national route network, and county routes connecting smaller municipalities to the route network. Most ring roads are state routes, though M70, M20, and M31 form three separate ring roads around Constantia. Route letterings of the four categories are as follows:
National routes - M1 to M99. M standing for Maradese, as in Maradese 1, Maradese 78.
State routes - V1 to V299. V standing for Vrystaat, as in Vrystaat 1, Vrystaat 216.
Provincial routes - xyR1 - xyR999. (Provincial routes use the state's abbreviation before the R, replacing the xy)
County routes - CR1 - CR999. (A county route is seperate from a county road, which does not get a number by the MGS)
Route numbers have no convention in Marada, only being rejected or changed if the Maradese Geological Survey (MGS) finds the numbered route too similar to a nearby route or a route of national importance. The numbers are allocated by the Route Numbering and Motor Traffic Signage Committee (RNMTSC), an organisation a part of the MRIM which contains representatives from the national, state, and local government.
