Sub-boroughs of Madawan
  • Downtown Madawan is the most densely populated part of Madawan and was the location of the first settlements of Madawan thanks to its position along the confluence of the Molson and Beveronto Rivers. It hosts many important and historic sites of Madawan such as the Molson Riverfront and Madawan Circle.
  • Government Quarter is where most of the government services of Passitania (as well as Stover County and Madawan City) are located. It is also one of the most heavily trafficked areas of Passitania and one of the most expensive places to live in Passitania.
  • North Madawan is the only borough of Madawan located in Kennetall County, and the site of the historic Fort Kennetall.
  • Richland River Shores is dominated by residential zoning, and one of the most expensive sub-boroughs of Madawan.
  • Spears Bend is located along the major bend on the Molson River within the Madawan borders. Due to this, it is the sub-borough of Madawan most prone to flooding.
  • Liberty is split into Liberty Park in the northern section.
  • The Triangle
  • "The 505" is the farthest southeast of all of the sub-boroughs. Its name is derived from a misunderstanding of "SOS" as "505", and it contains the major hospital of Madawan, the Emliy Terenti Hospital. Because of this, the hospital was given the address of "505 Emily Street". It's considered the most affluent sub-borough of Madawan.
  • Midtown Madawan is one of the most residential sections of Madawan, located halfway between the heavily commercialized Downtown and the heavily retail-oriented Uptown.
  • Uptown Madawan contains Grand Union Station, the major Madawan train station, as well as the Uptown Madawan Riverfront, a major tourism draw for the city of Madawan.
  • The River Gardens is the only sub-borough to cross county lines, being located in both Stover and Beveronto Counties. It also contains the University of Passitania - Madawan, the Beveronto Gardens Stadium, and the Aaron F. Kimmel Convention Center.
  • Fulton Park
  • Ashland Woods

Madawan Metropolitan Area

The Madawan Metropolitan Area consists of the entirety of Beveronto County, Kennetall County, and Stover County. Additionally, it contains portions of Angela County, Ashburne County, Brooke County, Carrove County, Molson County, and Union County.

"The Inner Side" is a colloquial term to mean any cities inside the Madawan Beltway (FS-430). These cities are traditionally more culturally tied to the Madawan city center and traditionally more affluent. "The Outer Side", conversely, is any cities within the Madawan Metropolitan Area which are located outside of the Madawan Beltway. This term includes the two other major population centers in the metropolitan area of Saint Brookings and Grundy.

In the FSA census, the Madawan-Grundy-St. Brookings Combined Statistical Area is used to refer to the Madawan metropolitan area. Like the metropolitan definition, it includes the entirety of Beveronto, Molson and Stover Counties, as well as portions of Ashburne, Brooke, Carrove, Molson, and Union. In addition, the statistical area includes the entirety of Angela County and portions of Dermott County.

Transportation

Roadways

The city of Madawan, with support from the counties of Stover, Beveronto, Kennetall, and the Passitania State Department of Transportation, has imposed a 55 MPH cap on all roads inside the Madawan Beltway (FS-430). The only exception to this are the Madawan Colorways and Beveronto Turnpike (PS-9), which all have a speed limit of 70 MPH to encourage drivers to take those roads. Additionally, all FS motorways within this 55 MPH cap are subject to speed cameras, which are placed every 2 miles along FS-30, FS-40, and FS-41.

Street Grid

Madawan's streets generally follow grid setups, although the alignment of the grid differs between sub-boroughs. Downtown Madawan, the Government Square, North Madawan, Richland River Shores, Uptown Madawan, and the River Gardens generally follow a grid with avenues running southwest to northeast and streets running northwest to southeast. Spears Bend, Liberty, the Triangle, the 505, Midtown Madawan, and Shiawassee Point follow a more north-south grid alignment.

Numbered avenues increase in number proportional to distance from the Molson River, with 1st Avenue North and 1st Avenue South being the closest streets to the Molson River in North Madawan and Downtown Madawan, respectively.

Promenades

PassDOT and the Madawan City Council created promenades along the rivers and in the highest tourism areas of Madawan. These mixed-use roadways alternate between pedestrian-only roads and automobile-accessible roads. The Southern Promenade runs from Confluence Park through the Beveronto Gardens Stadium Complex, University of Passitania - Madawan, and the Uptown Madawan Riverfront. The Northern Promenade runs from Kimmel Street along Fort Kennetall and through the Molson Riverfront Park. The West River Promenade runs from Keaton Plaza through the Aaron F. Kimmel Convention Center, Balmer Island, and Combs Island.

Historic Parkways

Before the creation of FS highways and the PS state route system, the Stover County Parkway was known as "15th Avenue" due to its position along the grid in Midtown Madawan. When the PS state route system was created, they paid homage to the moniker of "15th Avenue" by creating the alignment of PS-15 along the Stover County Parkway and continuing into the Beveronto County Parkway.

Expressways

Madawan Colorways

Within the counties of Beveronto, Kennetall, and Stover, Madawan constructed several toll roads to alleviate traffic to the most popular sections. These roads are all open-road tolling and accessed via the Mass-Pass, the Massodeya Valley's transponder for toll roads. Currently, the only toll roads constructed are the Greenway from Gardenton to the Port of Madawan and the Redway from Molson City to Erickson. There is talks of creating a new colorway along the eastern side of Madawan, running from near Taramec through Molson City and Everdon.

Turnpike(s)

The only fully constructed turnpike in the Madawan is the Beveronto Turnpike from Uptown Madawan to near Saint Brookings. However, Madawan has proposed other routes for future turnpikes, such as upgrading the Stover County Parkway to provide better access to the River Gardens and Government Square.

Airports

Madawan International Airport

Madawan International Airport (MAD) is the largest and primary airport in the state of Passitania. Located relatively central to the state, it serves as a major hub west of the Asphale Mountains for domestic flights, and has a few international flights daily to Randalia and Confédération Astrasienne. MAD hosts three runways and 128 gates, and is a class R airport. The airport sits entirely within Beveronto County near the town of Port Republic and at the crossroads between FS-430, FS-341, and PS-14.

Terminals

Currently, MAD has five concourses (Concourses A, B, C, D, and F) located in three terminals (Concourses A-C in Terminal 1, Concourse D in Terminal 2, and Concourse F in Terminal 3). There are talks of expanding MAD onto the northwest side of FS-430 and running FS-430 through a tunnel in that area to create a fourth terminal, but little progress on obtaining right-of-way has been made.

MAD Underground Transportation provides quick transportation between terminals, making stops at the main terminal, International Arrivals, and all concourses.

Airport Transportation

Road transportation into MAD is solely served by FS-341 as well as slip lanes from FS-430. PassDOT plans to run its upcoming subway service to the Madawan Airport to help alleviate congestion, and access from nearby PS-14 and the town of Port Republic is in talks as well.

Culture

Parks and Important Sites

River Gardens

The Madawan River Gardens (formerly known as Beveronto Gardens) sits along the mouth of the Beveronto River and straddles the border of Stover and Beveronto Counties. Dating back to (DATE), the park was the site of the quadrennial governor's inauguration and has been used for it ever since. Today, the River Gardens are home to Beveronto Gardens Stadium, the home stadium of the Madawan Wildcats and the Aaron F. Kimmel Convention Center.

Transportation

Automobile transportation around the River Gardens is primarily facilitated by the Madawan Greenway (FS-341), 8th Avenue Expressway (PS-914), and other major surface streets such as Liberty Avenue (PS-76, PS-52) and Heritage Street (PS-71). Pedestrian traffic in the area is facilitated by the Southern Promenade (Eastern Banks, Stover County Side) and West River Promenade (Western Banks, Beveronto County Side) as well as several pedestrian-only streets, many of which cross the river (11th Avenue South, Beveronto Pedestrian Bridge).

Public transportation is limited to the Beveronto Gardens bus station located at the intersection of 14th Avenue South and Garden Street; as well as the soon-to-be-constructed Convention Center bus station to be located at the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Ballard Street. PassDOT's upcoming Madawan subway will likely also feature subway stations at each of these locations, and likely an additional one at the University of Passitania - Madawan Campus to alleviate traffic at these sites.

Fort Kennetall

Fort Kennetall sits at the confluence of the Molson and Beveronto Rivers, near Florian Island and Confluence Park.

Molson Riverfront

The Molson Riverfront Park(s) is/are two parks located on opposite sides of the Molson River slightly upstream of the confluence with the Beveronto River.

Deer Hill National Cemetary

Deer Hill National Cemetary sits along the West River Promenade in Beveronto County near Combs Island.
