Hi Team, Thanks for this. I'd think about making an application for AR060-16 but have two questions. Firstly, would it be possible to have a more Australia-New Zealand style province here, as the Deodeca collab page suggests these Western regions are more Canadian? Secondly, would it be possible for an area settled that much later than the other areas or I would need to make it be settled earlier? Thanks again for all your help. ::Hi, sounds good. Australia/NZ style for the islands would be fine, as we plan on the western mainland provinces to more Canadian focussed. Secondly, we can help you to develop a lore/historical reason for the islands being settled/established later on than the rest of the country. We were thinking that the islands were purchased from nearby Ambrosia at a later date and as such were not developed until then. This is, of course, if you were implying you wanted to have the islands settled later. Let us know what you think! [[User:Arlo|Arlo]] ([[User talk:Arlo|talk]]) 11:37, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Arlo

Please fill in the information below to make a territory request.
Noun Project Signature icon 619326 cc.svgTerritory ID and proposed name
The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

Unknown Territory (wanting advice from the admins on where this would best suit) - The Commonwealth of the Meredies (the Meredies)

Noun Project Map icon 1463108.svgPhysical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

I would be seeking a territory in a temperate zone and the physically geography would ideally have flat coastal plains leading into the foothills and then mountains of a range at the spine of the country. Most the heavily mountainous areas will still be clad with dense native bush.

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

The primary inspiration for the country is New Zealand, probably slightly more developed than we see in our world, so taking strong cues from Australia as well. Agriculture, primarily sheep and dairy, form the traditional backbone of the economy though both agriculture and the overall economy have seen wide diversification in recent years. The population density is probably about 18 people per km2, so slightly more sparsely population then New Zealand. The bulk of this population will be concentrated in a small number of cities.

A brief description of the intended culture and language

The territory would have been colonized by Ingerland in the 1830s, with the only Western settlement before that having been whalers, sealers and missionaries. There would be an indigenous Austronesian/Polynesian people as well. The country will speak Ingerish, as well as naming influences from it's native conlang.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

Discussion for clarification & decision

While I'm not an admin, I take it you want to map in the style of Australia/New Zealand. Well, I recommend going for a province in Deodeca. Deodeca is a place for Commonwealth-inspired mapping and a place like the Meredies. If you want to map on the mainland, consider applying for AR060-16. If you want to map on an archipelago, consider applying for AR060-14.

Hi Singapura-Oriental, I second Lemuria in recommending the Deodeca project for you. As the coordinator of Ingerish Asperia (a collaborative province within Deodeca), Australia and NZ are the primary influences on the province. Your detailing work is outstanding and if you would like to consider joining the Ingerish Asperia collaborative, I think you will find it a place that suits your NZ/Aus style mapping. In any case, applying for a Deodeca province is also a great idea or whatever you choose to do. Good luck! Arlo (talk) 21:06, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Arlo

Have a look at AR060-16 and AR060-15 (with this in mind). /wangi (talk) 21:33, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
