Kwelede-peir originated in 1689 as Terra Sincera, a nominal name for various loosely connected colonies. The colonies were often attacked by local aggressive tribes, and this forced the colonists to unite among themselves. An artificial language for communication between the colonists has been in use since the beginning of the 19th century and this served as an impetus for the development of a unique national identity, different from Ulethan or local.
In 1886, a secret society of anti-Ulethan colonists rebelled against the union of the colonies, and in 1887 the Republic of Kwelede-peir was formed, as a federation of colonists and natives. However, due to internal strife and the plight of workers and immigrants, in 1915 the socialists took power militarily, becoming the dominant force. In 1930, under the influence of the nationalist parties from Uletha, various conservative and right-wing movements (self-named Progressists) within the socialists become mainstream, but after the defeat of such forces on the Uletha fronts of the Great War in 1954, Kwelede-peir again became leftist.
From 1954 to 1971 Kwelede-peir was an isolated state. The policy of isolationism led to a military junta seizing power, which brought the Kwelede-peir to the Assembly of Nations and other international organizations. True, the internal politics of the junta left much to be desired, and it voluntarily surrendered power in 1974.
