Presidents

Can we refrain from adding these until term limits and first year of first president is in place and canon? Rhiney boi (talk) 19:00, 4 May 2019 (CEST)

I just now learned that people believe the list of presidents on this page is "canon." I very much hope that is not true. I think that list should be "proposed" names that would get discussed/voted on/approved by the FSA community at some point. Otherwise we see the same problem with "first come, first serve" that we see with so much OGF lore, and it is unfair.--Luciano (talk) 22:17, 13 April 2020 (CEST)

Agreed. I never saw the list of presidents as canon, though I've used names like Sutton and Caldwell in my mapping here and there. With these subjects, we need a proper, organized initiative from the community or it just devolves into this first come first serve system which de facto parallels the USA to the point where things feel like a carbon copy.--Fluffr Nuttr (talk) 23:29, 13 April 2020 (CEST)
I second (third?) these sentiments. Until we figure out an organized way of handling presidents fairly and know things like term limits and founding year, politician suggestions should be kept to regional figures, as I have done myself --Ernestpcosby (talk) 23:54, 13 April 2020 (CEST)
On one hand, I fully agree with everyone else that there is currently no "official" full list of presidents of the Federal States, nor should there be at this point. Much more work needs to be done in regards to determining important details about the office, including the year the first president began, how long each term is (to determine the total number of presidents we've had), if we even want to use the title "President" or something else, etc.
On the other hand, much of the above can easily be considered overwikification, and at some point we have to accept that there will always be some "churn" of FSA participants as new mappers come in and as old mappers leave. While we shouldn't have any "first come first served" policies for national decisions, we should also recognize that at some point we do need to draw a line and actually make decisions about things, otherwise things will never get done.
A compromise I'd suggest is that each state owner can add a single name to the list of Presidents. When we get to some agreed upon threshold -- maybe 40, with the assumption that more recent Presidents are less likely to have their names applied widely to schools, streets, parks, etc. throughout the map -- we can hash out a final "canon" order of the first 40 (or whatever number) Presidents of the FSA. After that point, each new incoming state owner can add the next president to the list (assuming the rest of us agree that the name chosen is sufficiently realistic). Thoughts? -TheMayor (talk) 03:08, 14 April 2020 (CEST)
Indeed we should bring some FSA-discussions to an end. And I like, that every stateholder may suggest one name of a president. --Histor (talk) 09:20, 14 April 2020 (CEST)
