Proposal of the cycling routes.

This is a proposal to map cycling routes in East Uletha, somewhat like this rough plan on the map on the right.

The map is a representation of the current status quo of East Uletha as of early 2026. Countries come and go in OpenGeofiction, and with that the routes should be updated to match these changes. The routes are intentionally planned to be possible to map almost completely with the current active and inactive countries measured in. The map is just a rough plan, and I do invite everyone to share their ideas and modifications to the routes in the discussions section.

Legend

  • Thick coloured lines: main international cycling route
  • Dashed thick coloured lines: an alternative route for the cycling route
  • Thin dashed black lines: a smaller, more regional cycling route

How to map?

A relation is created for every cycling route, with the tags listed below. Cycleways, streets, and roads are attached to the relation with no roles. If there are one-way sections, such as a one way cycleway or highway section, please consider using the roles forward/backward. If you want to map an alternative route (like the dashed thick coloured lines), use role alternative. More information on OSM Wiki.

key value
cycle_network name of this cycling network as a whole (suggestions?)
type route
route bicycle
network icn / ncn (see below)
ref (see below and map)
name(:language) (see below)
from place/city where route originates
to place/city where route ends

Routes

These are just placeholders, feel free to edit the cities and names, and even the reference numbers listed in this table. They were named uncreatively using neutral physical geography features, so feel free to suggest or change new names if you are willing to!

Routes should be mapped in a county-wide relation, where the route is just one country. These country-wide are collected into a superrelation, which can be accessed below. Remember to add your country-wide relation to the superrelation!

Feel free to make these superroute relations yourself if you are the first editor of the route. The tags should be similar to, for example, the Emerald Sea routeƨ.

ref name from to superrelation
1 Asperic–Ardentic route Warohan, Izaland UL25f Asperic–Ardentic routeƨ
2 East Uletha minor route UL27b Newbel, Filo Islands
3 Emerald Sea route (roundtrip) Emerald Sea routeƨ
4 Ardentic Ocean route Yaladaam, Kadah UL25h
5 Sea of Izaland route Seralia City, Belphenia UL30cb
6 Western longitudinal route Bersaturya, Sephyra Sápvuodmá Western Longitudinal Routeƨ

network=icn or network=ncn?

The tag network=icn shows up in the CyclOGF map far away. The tag network=ncn shows up when zooming closer to the map. I’d suggest to add the major routes with the icn tag, and the minor routes with ncn tag.

What type of road is okay for these routes?

Motorways Roads with high speeds or high traffic Roads with moderate traffic and speeds Roads with light traffic Bicycles separated from car traffic Completely separated cycle paths
Absolutely not. Avoid. Okay, but not ideal. “I would cycle here.” Aim for these! Absolutely the best ones!
