Territory ID and proposed name

Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

The physical geography of Tverrike is inspired by and designed to fit its surroundings. In the north and west, There are deep forests and smaller rivers that stem from the mountains. Tverrike also has quite a vast coastline, with a big, expansive archipelago on the rocky east coast, screened off by a big peninsula, followed by an open south coast with many coastal towns and even beaches. In the middle of the country, a large river flows. There is also a big lake that is the heart of the northern region of Tverrike, all visible in the sketch. Additionally, in the north, there is a big iron ore deposit, and in the west, a copper ore deposit. Both are vastly exploited and essential to the country. https://ibb.co/5q2gkS3

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

The cultural demographics of Tverrike are not very complicated. Some waves of immigration have arrived in the recent decades, but otherwise, the absolute majority are Tverish. To the east, there is a bit of a differing culture, with historical differences and even a native endangered language. (partial inspiration from Irish and the Swedish speaking minorities in Finland, context will be explained in the history part)

Tverrike is densely populated, with about 7 million inhabitants. Most of the population are concentrated in the south and west, partially along the river and also around the resource-rich areas. Most of the population reside in urban areas, and the rural areas of the country are lagging behind, with in comparison bad communications and offerings.

Economically, Tverrike is a developed country, with high quality of life, advanced technological infrastructure, and strong service sector. The nation got large parts of its wealth and early development from ore mining in the north and west, as well as good conditions for farming, around the central river. Good relations with neighbouring countries and great trade connections have also helped the economic growth.

Infrastructure-wise, Tverrike has its main arteries between the big cities, i.e mostly in the south and west. The train network is large, with expansive, mainly cargo routes from the north, and modern connections between the biggest cities.

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

The name Tverrike is an old name for the area that the country now covers. It stems from Tveir (old for two) and Rike (kingdom, reich). Namely, Tverrike used to be two countries, one to the west with the bigger population and better conditions, and one to the east, with the rocky coast, based around fishing and with a sisu-like mentality. In the end of the 18th century, a royal marriage united the two kingdoms, and Tverrike became a nation-state. To this day, the old split is visible, with the east being underdeveloped and rural, and the west being the most developed, most populated, and favoured part of the nation. https://ibb.co/LDV8rsc

Culturally and lingually, Tverish is just... Swedish. In the absolute east, some groups still speak and even write the old Östramål (Easternic), a remnant of old times. (more or less a copy of Gutamål, and it will hardly be present in the mapping)

(ADDED AFTER DISCUSSION:)

The Tverish relations with its neighbours are nowadays good. Tverrike is a member of the EUOIA subscribes to a general ideology that promotes international market relations and pacifism. In the past though, Tverrike has been in wars with both Wystrians and Neberlians. Both of the mentioned have fought on both sides of wars between the two kingdoms, and even after the unification, foreign elements could support eastern movements that weakened Tverrike. That is though a thing of the past. There has also been raids towards the west in the Alvedic nations, where science and knowledge was stolen exchanged.

Past mapping
To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

I have mapped the country of Lingne for about a year. I have although reached a creative deadpoint and I don't think I can do anything fun with that territory anymore. The main reason is me being disillusioned by the territory and its absolute surroundings, as well as my previous unexperienced mapping being a bit of a roadblock. I also punched way above my weight with trying to create a conlang.

Albeit I have learnt from my mistakes and I now have ambitions and ideas for the territory that I really want to carry out. The best parts of my mapping in Lingne was probably the city of Bries and the nearby village of Gairdsby, as well as perhaps the island of Flausou. I have also mapped in blue territories before, and created villages such as Branthouse.

Hello Souzzzzie, thanks for your territory swap application. Looks really nicely thought out. Before we proceed, please

  • go into a little more detail about the history, especially how it related to your neighbouring territories since you are in an active neighbourhood.
  • provide a sketch that also includes aspects of human geography (major settlements and transportation infrastructure).

Looking forward to your reply! Best, Leowezy (talk) 19:39, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

Hello Leowezy, thank you for your answer! I have created a sketch for the human geography, and a bit of the history section, I can expand more if you want. Souzzzzie (talk) 22:03, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

I have an idea as well which I didn't explain thoroughly in the history part because its not fully up to me. Now, this would of course have to be discussed with the owners of Alvedic territories, but my trail of thought is that the tribes of that made up the Tverrike arrived in the same wave as the ones that evolved into Kåra and perhaps Älved. They eventually developed into different languages, but the language of Kåra is very alike to Tverish (Swedish). As said, it is an idea that would have to be discussed, but it is the way I firstly thought of it and it would explain animous relations today. Souzzzzie (talk) 20:03, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
