Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

New Fricester has hot but bearable summers and cool, mild winters. Under the Koppen classification system, New Fricester is a Humid Subtropical climate which means average winter temperatures are above 27 degrees Fahrenheit, and summer averages above 72 degrees Fahrenheit.

Most of the state is fairly low lying flat land, but the southwestern corner of the state is made up of fairly small ridges and mountains, cut up by small rivers. Tucked away in the middle of this landscape is Lake Bellington, a driver of tourism. To the north and east of this area are some plateaus. These plateaus are more arid than the rest of the state with little trees and high winds, this area is better suited for animal grazing than cultivating crops.

The northern part of the state has many low lying swamps and wetlands which have many species of animals and plants, while much of the rest of the state is all flat, arable land supplied by small creeks and rivers fed from the Bluegill River.

https://ibb.co/TDzvQfn5 This sketch shows numbered areas, I will explain the climate of each areas.

Area 1 was already explained in detail, but i will briefly describe it again, it is made of small ridges and mountains split up by small rivers fed from Lake Bellington, which is a driver of tourism in the area.

Area 2 is made up of barrier islands. These island are prone to flooding, which is made even worse by development on the islands.

Area 3 is made of plateaus which are ore arid than the rest of the state and are best suited for grazing instead of farming, edges of the plateau are prone to erosion and mudslides during torrential downpours.

Area 4 is between the plateau and coastline, it also straddles the two sets of barrier islands. It has many minor bumps and hills, and is arable enough for farming.

Area 5 is where foothills of the mountains in Area 1 meet, it is arable and has a river connection from the Bluegill into Lake Bellington going through it.

Area 6 is full of low lying wetlands that are full of species and are essential to flood control in the area.

Area 7 is full of small rivers that go to and from Lake Hewitt.

Area 8 is full of small rivers and creek that lead into the mighty Bluegill. This area is prime for farming as it is also fairly flat.

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

New Fricester is very diverse due to it being a major immigration hub, historically and in the present. Urban areas are the most diverse, but suburbs are as well. Rural areas aren’t too diverse, with many being white. Ingerish is the most widely spoken language, also the one used in government documents. Other languages are spoken in immigrant areas. Historically, New Fricester relied on tobacco farming, which then turned into textiles, cigars, and dried tobacco, and other factory goods as the biggest industries. In the early-mid 20th century, the economy modernized, and today the biggest industries are financial services, tourism, beverages, and farming. The state has many urban areas. Anne Abbey, the cultural, financial, and population center of the state, Salmouth, the state capital, Rivertown, home of UNF, Oleana, the southern outpost, Lakeland, the gateway to the mountains are some of the biggest cities in the state. There are many motorways like FS-30, FS-1, FS-2, and FS-11. Human Geography Sketch showing motorways and cities in order of most populous: https://ibb.co/sddRDZ3Y

The reason I listed FS-40 is because after a discussion in the discord, I learned there was plans to change FS-30 to FS-40.

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

People from NF are called Fricesterians. Fricesterians are known for their state pride, especially for their state flag and beloved state beverage, Bluegill Cola. The state was admitted to the FSA in 1762. The state is built on immigrants, and it shows in food, culture, and everywhere you look. The state has dealt with problems in recent years like gun violence, opioid use, and corruption, but is powering through. The state’s documented history starts when the O’Malley family was looking for a business venture, trying to achieve wealthiness. They left Uletha in 1643 and sailed across the globe to Archanta. They landed on an island in present day New Fricester, and over the next 18 months built a small boat dock and port building before heading inland to establish some sort of crop production. They found a native village and were introduced to tobacco, which they thought could make them rich if they shipped some back to Uletha, so they started planting tobacco and after bringing it back to their dock and shipping it back home, they knew this was their destiny. They ramped up production and also declared that their territory, which they called the O’Malley Purchase, would be a haven for all religious groups. They really did this to get more people to come and help build their territory up with port infrastructure and tobacco plantations, but it worked. Over the next 40 years, the O’Malley family led building up both their port town, now called Cape Stockton, and their network of plantations. But then, in the 1690’s, the family went bankrupt and went into a takeover by The Crown, who turned the purchase into the colony of New Fricester. Also here is a list with some state symbols:

State Symbols

Nickname: The Gateway State

Song: Our Three Saints

Animal: Hermit Crab

Flower: Corn Lilly(Veratrum)

Tree: Poem Oak(Quercus macrocarpa)

Drink: Bluegill Classic Cola

Food: Lamb Batons (A.K.A. Lamb Frites). Lamb Batons are prepared by removing the meat from the bone and cutting it into uniform strips, then pan-seared until tender with a browned, lightly crisped interior. Finish with salt and red pepper flakes. The dish is believed to have gained popularity in the 1920s, when an upscale lounge chef adapted a preparation described by wealthy patrons into a refined menu item. He recorded his interpretation of the recipe, a version of which is still displayed in the dining room. The dish proved popular and spread to other restaurants, eventually becoming a widely recognized regional specialty.

Past mapping
To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

424313521 Southwells, MC

41426741 St. Madison Regional Airport

191910ƨ Gateway, MC (I haven’t mapped out all of Otis County, Just Gateway and Gateway Crossing, but i couldn’t find links to them, so this is as close as I could get.)

187828720 West Towne Mall (again couldn’t find the actual waypoint, but this is as close as I could get.)

I have also done other miscellaneous mapping in Darsons, like the Darsons Ontar Convention Center, and some state agencies, but i didn’t think those were highlights of my mapping.

Southwells is also not the best, there is some scaling issues, but it is a whole town, so it deserved to be here.

CityGuy (talk) 21:17, 1 July 2026 (UTC) I will be giving Pole permission to map in my state, but he is planning on getting one of his own, and he will allow me to map in his territory once he gets it, like wangi suggested.

  • Hi, can you rework the Physical geography section in particular so it is readable please. mw:Help:Formatting or use the editor controls. As a state within the Collab:Federal States project you also need to be aware of the restrictions and covenants that imposes, so for example renaming Ann Abbey is a non-starter. Please review the project documentation and rework with this in mind. Thanks/wangi (talk) 15:47, 2 July 2026 (UTC)…
  • I have broken up the physical geography section into more readable sections and turned the list into more of a list, sorry about that, I’m not great with formatting. And about Anne Abbey, I was rooting for Abelline, but since you said no, I’ll leave that there. Unsigned comment by CityGuy (talk).
  • Thanks, keep in mind that Anne Abbey was an example, it jumped out. You need to check that your interstate plans, railroads etc are consistent too. Where they are, flag that in the application - i.e put the route numbers on the sketches. Thanks/wangi (talk) 18:57, 2 July 2026 (UTC)
  • I have changed the the Human Geography picture to now add route numbers to the sketch as asked. Unsigned comment by CityGuy (talk).
