Noun Project Map icon 1463108.svgPhysical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Much of the climate and topography would be similar to areas near Appalachia in the United States. In the north, near Huntington, the topography would represent areas such as Northern Virginia, Central Maryland, and South-Central Pennsylvania. Rolling hills would begin to grow steeper as you travel westward, then a large ridge would separate the northwestern section, where the proposed city of New Willowbrook would rest. Rivers in this region would be mostly winding between the rolling hills, draining into the same watershed as rivers in Huntington. In the northwest, rivers would flow in the same direction, but would wind southwards prior to this so as to not go across the ridge. Moving south to the current FS-30 corridor, this area would be a large valley with a break in the mountainous topography, suitable for farming and supporting large populations. This area would be similar to the Piedmont region of southern Virginia and the Carolinas. South of the present FS-30 corridor, the mountains would begin rising again and this section would be the most mountainous area of Passitania. Large broadleaved forests would cover this area, similar to West Virginia and the Smoky Mountains. Rivers in this area would mostly flow south, to New Carnaby, and would be very youthful, with rapids, falls, and large gorges formed over time. In the east, large meadows would sweep through the area with dotted broadleaf and evergreen forests. In the southwest, mountains rich in minerals would dot the region, with a high plateau in the far southwest (see Ramont or FS-22/FS-35 junction) providing flat land for mining and development.

Climate-wise, the eastern reaches and central valley would be humid continental (Primarily Cfa). Mountains in the north-central and south-central would not be tall enough to contain snow year round, and as such would be Dfa/Dfb. Northern land beyond the mountains would be Cwb/Cfb due to the mountains in the north blocking moisture. The mountains in the south, being taller, and the plateau in the southwest being higher in the air would warrant a Dfb/Dwb. The east and central valley receive the brunt of the moisture in Passitania, with snow showers in the winter, steady rain in the spring, occasional thunderstorms and downpours in the summer, and occasional rain with snow mixed in the autumn. Due to this precipitation imbalance, rivers in this region occasionally could be prone to flooding. In the northwest, the precipitation is even more imbalanced with occasional snow/ice-storms in the winter, occasional downpours in the spring, and a mostly dry summer and autumn. The northern mountains would prevent much of the Huntington area from snow, while also preventing summer rain from the east from making its way into this region. In the southwest, there will be strong snowstorms in the winter, some snow and lots of rain in the spring, a mostly dry summer, and a rainy/snowy autumn. Snow will not necessarily stay on the ground throughout the winter in the southwest (unlike the mountain ranges in the Western US, this area is more like the George Washington forest in West Virginia), but it still will stay snowy for much of the winter.

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

The east of Passitania will be much more populated than the west. Areas surrounding Huntington will be the richest region of the state, with many people commuting to the capital for jobs, opportunities, etc. Military installations will dot this area due to proximity to Huntington, and the area will in general resemble Northern Virginia (Loudon & Fairfax Counties especially). The northern mountains would be somewhat middle class, with few mining towns and mostly logging and recreation. Towns in this area will be small communities (similar to towns of Monterey, VA, Charlottesville, VA, or Asheville, NC). In the northwest, near the city of New Willowbrook, this area will be more economically repressed, with the timber and mining industries vacating long ago. Many people in the area still are upper-class, particularly those who live outside of the city center (similar to towns of Cumberland, MD, Pittsburg, PA, or Charleston, WV). The central valley will be economically prosperous, with the rich soil and plentiful rain paving the way for agriculture. Several rural towns will mostly be located along the FS-30 corridor, similar to Sussex. In the far-east, the large meadows and forests have supported a large population in accordance with the timber and agriculture industries. Cities such as Anacostia and Brookingdale will be mostly prosperous cities with a few sections being more economically poor (similar to cities of Philadelphia, PA or Hampton Roads, VA). Along the proposed FS-21 corridor, smaller towns will mimic this style. The south-central, particularly the area enclosed by FS-21, FS-22, FS-30, and FS-31 will be a large national forest (similar to Shenandoah National Park, VA or Smoky Mountains National Park, NC/TN) where few people live due to the rural nature. Small towns will be present mainly along the FS-22 corridor, but these areas will be somewhat small and economically poor due to the rural nature. A small tourist area along FS-31 in this region may be constructed due to close proximity to the park (similar to Front Royal, VA, Gatlinburg, TN, or areas north of Utica, NY). In the west-central, old mining and railroad towns will have caused the property value to plummet, especially as mineshafts and railroad companies have closed (similar to southwestern Virginia or central Appalachia). In the southwest, near Ramont, a rich ski-based culture has caused lots of tourism to flock to this region, especially in the winter months (similar to Denver, CO). The large college in the region will also be based in Ramont, leading to a young median age and rich nightlife.

Urban and suburban mapping will be present particularly around the large cities of Huntington, Brookingdale, and central Ramont. Rural mapping style will be used mostly elsewhere.

Noun Project languages icon 105908 cc.svgHistory & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

Land for Passitania was carved out of several land grants originally for the coastal states of Ponquin and Whitestone. Due to its close proximity to the capital, many people here are very patriotic and a large veteran/active military population lives in Passitania. Farther from the capital, the natural sights attract families and college students. Ingerish is the primary language spoken here and Archantan will be the primary culture, however several minorities will be present within the larger cities and college towns.

Here is the beginner territory of Havenshire that I have been working on for around six months now. I am planning on adding several more rural areas as proof of my ability to map rurally, however I also live in a rural area in the United States so that mapping style is very natural to me. The city mapping here was the more difficult part, and I attempted to break up the grids more. Union City in particular has a grid near the center, but I attempted to break it up with the suburbs. The scale in this territory is denser than I would like Passitania to be, but that is because the beginner territory was not large enough to accommodate diverse landscapes.

Initially, I started mapping in Bolstable, especially in areas to the north (places such as Charlottetown, Moonview City, the Spotswood Parkway, and the Victory Freeway) prior to my mapping in Havenshire. This was much too expansive of a grid, but the rural areas here are skills I would like to port over to the territory of Passitania.
