Territory ID and proposed name
The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

AR120-73 Uintah

Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

Red Rock Steppe, for the most part, with numerous mountain ranges throughout. The biggest ones are on the east and south, and there's a mountain range that separates the far north from the central sections. The mountains are mostly Coniferous forest. I'd post my picture, but I'm doing this on a school computer and filesharing sites are for the most part blocked.

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Demographically, the southern section is mostly Germanic groups, but with a few enclaves of others. The northern is mostly Spanish, and has a similar population to the Southern region but in a much denser area.

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

Historically, this region was mostly unsettled except for the [this world equivalent of Indians], who were mostly nomadic. The first non-Archantian settlements were a series of Castellan missions along the northern coast, but nobody settled the interior until a large group of southerners who were displeased with the state of affairs in the FSA moved north and tried to make their own country. It later got annexed by the FSA during Northwestern Expansion.

Past mapping
To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

  • Hi there, it's good to see you trying for -73 again. However, some stateowners have a few concerns we're hoping you can clear up. Firstly, your current plan for minimizing Castellanese presence wouldn't fit with the greater regional plan. If you look at nearby states, the Castellanese clearly had a heavy presence, especially by the coast. This leads to the second issue: contrary to what you're saying on this app, it's the coast that would be most heavily populated rather than the dry interior. Doing so would align with trends in nearby states (see San Pascual, Kingston–Santico, and Los Reyes). As for your history section, who exactly are the southerners who settled in -73, and what caused them to make the move? Are they meant to be Mormon? The FSA has a group similar to the Mormons called Parsonites. They're based in Apawiland, so you can use that group for -73. Lastly, I understand that you want to create something similar to Utah in OGF. That's fine, but you also need to account for preexisting ideas and themes in the region you're applying to. And it's be best to avoid using real-world placenames like Uinta(h), Deseret, Ute/Utah, etc. Thanks, and I look forward to working with you. --IiEarth (talk) 23:21, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
    • Hello! I don't have much to say that iiEarth hasn't said already, however I share the concerns that he had. I think that a Utah-equivalent state would be fantastic to see. I think your first example (Granger) does a pretty good job at representing the design of Utah's cities and towns, however I think that your other two examples are lacking and don't give us enough information about what you would like to do. I would love to see these other areas get expanded. I am excited to see what you do! --Forkymapper (talk) 23:52, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
    • @liEarth Thank you. I chose Uintah because it means "Land by the Mountains" in Ute, and I assumed we could do stuff like that because one of the other states is named Sierra. Also, I wasn't sure whether the coast should be Pacific Northwest or something else, so my brain defaulted to making it look like the Southern coast of Iran, which is very desolate. • Thanks for the quick response. While Uintah might have a simple etymology (it means 'pine forest' rather than 'land by the mountains'), it's a well-known toponym associated with Utah. If you need resources in languages like Ute or Shoshone to make your own placenames, I can try finding them for you. As for the coast, feel free to look at neighboring states and how they've already interpreted it. For example, Puerto Eloisa is just to the east and seems to be located in a grassy valley surrounded by lush forests. Pre-existing Playa Gomez also contradicts a desolate coast. --IiEarth (talk) 00:21, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
        • Thank you. I think something along the lines of "Crimson Plateau" would go well with my idea for the Interior, which is mostly red rock. And I see the coast. TheRealStanPines (talk) 17:09, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
