Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Demographics are a similar admixture to the Balkins, Southern Italy or Southern Spain, especially during ottoman empire control. European mixed with middle eastern, with pockets of indigenous peoples from the region. Economic style is heavily influenced by soviet. Infrastructure is well developed in the cities and along the coast.

A brief description of the intended culture and language

Culture would be a slower placed lifestyle, a few big cities with mostly smaller towns. Coast is more heavily populated than the rest of the country. The official languages would be Eralonian / Fejë and Castellanese / Kastejanëz as a minority language.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

I'm not sure how to link my mapping history but I've been studying European and balkin mapping styles lately.

Discussion for clarification & decision

I'm open to other territories but I'd prefer smaller territories along a coast, in a warm climate or at least somewhere between the 45 degree marks - Dsilcott (talk) 12:43, 15 August 2025 (UTC)

Hi Dsilcott,

Thank you for your application. The concept for the country is interesting, and the chosen location is well suited to the influences you described and is strategically placed. However, there are some elements missing from the application.

In particular, it would be helpful to further develop and describe the physical geography. Including a sketch or rough map would also add clarity to the layout of your plans. This would allow us to better assess how the country fits within the surrounding geography and could also serve as a useful starting point for you when developing the project further. The other sections could use a little more information as well to get a better picture.

Additionally, no past mapping examples were included with your application. I have reviewed your mapping history and can see clear progress in your more recent work. That said, I would encourage you to continue practicing, especially with regard to scale. It would also be beneficial to practice mapping in the styles you are aiming for, such as a Balkan-style approach.

For now, I would recommend continuing to practice mapping, possibly by working on this concept in a blue territory. You would then be able to carry over any developed ideas or work into a future application for your own territory. I would recommend to work on this feedback and try again in the near future.
