The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

TA242 - Anternia. (Or preferably a division of TA242 into TA242a and TA242b taking the islands and the main land respectively so that I could get TA242a as an initial territory to develop due to its small size and my lack of development of my own territories in the past.)

An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Anternia features a tropical climate consisting of mountains in the southeast mainland and beaches on the coast. Its landscape is flat near the coastline without any hills however as we venture into the mainland we find its 3 major mountains sitting next to each other as a mountain range.

The islands feature a tropical climate which contains low hills but a lot of beaches surrounding them.

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Anternia has been a magnet for life since the old ages. Due to its ideal climate for life consisting of a cool atmosphere around the bases of the mountains and hot temperatures on the islands and beaches during the summer but also cold atmospheres on the mountains mainly near the mountain tops all year round but mainly in the winter.

Anternia's main economic sources during the old ages but still up to today are its export of fish and wood. Wood is gathered from the Anternian Forest (pictured in the sketch uploaded on the previous section) in lumber mills while fish are fished near the coastlines of the islands. It suffered a large depression in its economy in the Anternian Forest fire of the summer of 1928 caused during an intense heatwave. A third of the forest was burned down while the fire burned for 3 days before being contained. This caused the forest to be placed under protection for 1 year meaning the lumber mills had to halt all production and export of wood while a re-plantation of the forest was underway. Today, the forest is thriving with 2 primary lumber mills.

The islands were inhabited almost instantly after the initial habitation of Anternia. Their inhabitants invested heavily into fishing turning it into one of Anternia's primary exports. While the islands continued to evolve culturally in the same way the mainland did, nothing interesting happened to them.

The capital of Anternia is Thereia featuring a population of around 1 million citizens. It is located on the Gulf of Elia (Greek word for oil. The anternians have a language very similar to the real life Greek language sharing many words.) on the Northwest end of the mainline near the island of Gea. Its location was historically chosen due to the short routes to get from the mainland to the islands. Due to its seaside nature it features a marina on the coast and a port.

Throughout the rest of the mainline we can see spurs of villages and ancient castles built providing tourist destinations all over the country.

Last but not least, the mapping style of Anternia is very similar to European/Greek mapping.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

(While the quality of mapping showcased in my previous work is not ideal for a tropical climate or even for any mapping, I am willing to improve my mapping style in order to adequately respond to the needs of my own territory. In the example given I was also not used to North American style mapping which is why I did not produce a very good looking grid. Which is also why I request the division of the above territory into a and b so that I can focus on the islands first and then expand onto the mainland however if that is not possible I am willing to accept the mainland and the territory as a whole as well.)

  • Hello! I am going to step in here to help out my fellow admin while she is unavailable. The application looks interesting, and you have some very promising work shown in your small sample size. That said, it is a small sample that is urban only. In order to better assess how things would fit in the territory, it would always be good to see how you would handle coasts and rural areas. (I also have questions about territory location.) I have two thoughts for now: (1) Would you be interested in a BG territory for the time being, just to build up a little larger of a dossier? This gives you a low-pressure opportunity to experiment and finesse things. You would have the ability to relocate any of the mapping to a new territory, so no work would be "lost" or "wasted." (2) Based on what you've done and done very well, if Greek-themed mapping is something that interests you, please send me a PM on OGF's main message system; there are options there that might be of interest to you, and I'd be happy to talk about it. Have a great day! — Alessa (talk) 21:24, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
    • Hello! Sorry for the very late reply to the answer. Not lot's of time and mostly motivation to work on OGF right now, so I would like to close the territory request as I realize I mainly work in bursts of motivation and not as regularly as my own territory or even a BG one might need. - Roofboy (talk) 13:54, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
  • No problem at all, and I'm happy to respect that. You are, of course, still free to edit in a blue territory or join a collab to do sporadic editing when you get the inspiration. Cheers. — Alessa (talk) 19:34, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
