UL20a - Uherslant

Noun Project Map icon 1463108.svgPhysical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Warm summers and freezing winters in the north, hot summers and cold winters in the south. As said in the East Uletha master plan/admin plan, it would have a temperate-steppe climate. The desert area is small in comparison to the steppe that surrounds it, so I will not include the desert. The landscape would mainly consist of rolling hills and flat plains. There would also be a lot of rivers. I will think of much of the physical geography of the nation whilst I make it.

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

There will be more population along the coastline, and there will be multiple ports on the coast. The country will be pretty developed, with HDI levels of around Poland. The demographics would be 16% Uhers, 31% Terinas, 40% Kruvenians and 13% other small minorities and immigrants.

The economy would be strong with a GDP of 1.4 trillion real life USD, coverted to Uherslanti Irtani (which would be the currency of the nation) (1USD = 1.38UHI) would be around 1.93 trillion Irtani at the time of writing this. this value would change on a weekly basis because of inflation and deflation.

The land occupation will be mostly meadows and farmland, due to the landscape of the region.

There would be a lot of road, rail and sea infrastructure, and there would be a free healthcare system.

Would be mapped similarly to my previous project, Bannau, but in more extensive detail and a mainland-eurasian style unlike the English style of Bannau.

The population of the nation would be somewhere between 40 million and 80 million people. This means GDP per capita (if the population was 60 million) would be ~32150 USD, and in Uherslant Irtani would be ~41800.

Noun Project languages icon 105908 cc.svgHistory & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

Would have a language called Uherslanta, which I am still working on, with strong Slavic and Germanic influences (English/Ingerlish would also sometimes be used, especially in ports and port cities). There would be a Slavic culture, with the main religions being Christianity and folk religions, with the food and traditions being similar to real life Central-Europe.

Brief history: many native peoples live there (eg. Uhers, Terinas) and in around 1549 colonizers (eg. Kruvenians) take over much of the land and kill many people. With help from nearby nations, they defeat the colonizers in the Uherslant Civil War of 1843-1846 and there is peace in the regions. The country has been, since the Kruvenians colonized the nation, an important country for shipping logistics.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

My main project I have completed in the past was my previous project, Bannau BG22 - a UK based map. My other edits, in Rhododactylia, is usless as it has an American style.

I would like to swap my previous territory BG22 for UL20a.

  • Thank you for your application. Two things before I process your application: 1) please also have a look at Help:Making realistic countries, think about the natural geography of your territory (esp. rivers in your case), how the human geography would develop as a result of that, and prepare another sketch of your "meta-plan" for your territory like done in that wiki article. A paint sketch like the one you provided already is perfectly fine of course, but please think a little bit more in detail about where major rivers and mountains/hill chains would run and where major cities would be located. 2) Would you mind elaborating a bit on the Uherslanta language you are working on? You say it would have strong Slavic and Germanic influences; what would the substrate of the language be? Creating a new language is a very difficult task, so don't be shy to share any ideas you have even if they won't be perfect from the start :) Best, and merry Christmas, Leowezy (talk) 19:32, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
  • The substrate language in this case would probably be Uralic I think because of the landscape and location of the territory. Many words will be cognates or semi-cognates of German words and West Slavic (Polish, Czech, Slovakian) words. I am not very good at making amazing maps, this one will also be in paint but would look better. Cities would mainly be near rivers or the sea. > (copy). (sorry the map is really messy everything is everywhere). :) Hope you had a nice Christmas! Trainsgb (talk) 23:20, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
