The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country |
UL21a - Barnaviddia

An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar) |
I made the currently visible map on UL21a some years ago. I will broadly keep the same kind of geography that is on the old mapping (which I did). That means: rivers mostly starting at northern border and flowing south, and climate transition from taiga (north) to steppe (south). The western (now empty) part might flow towards southwest, or towards east, TBD.
Some hilly areas (especially in the north), otherwise mostly plains, no big mountain ridges.
(Since Karolia was withdrawn, should I keep these large mountains with glaciers at the border ? I'd rather change them to small hills with forests if possible).

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style |
Between 5 and 10 million inhabitants, continental steppe climate. First I'm planning to map large features like rivers and forests, and putting cities, towns, main road and rail network, in a logical manner. Then I'll add some details progressively like landuse and urban details, like I used to do when I was mapping before. Contrarily to the former mapping, the country will have rural populated areas almost everywhere, and no big empty zones, only smaller empty zones (a bit like IRL Hungary where some steppes and forests became national parks). Development index similar to IRL Eastern European countries.

A brief description of the intended culture and language |
Conlang that has Finno-Ugric and Baltic influences (since some neighbors use such languages). Culturally similar to neighboring Älved and Keira.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful. | |
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL. |
Hello, I'm back on OGF. I'm the former mapper of Älved and Boscunis (both archived), and also the former mapper of this land.
I actually have free time soon and I am motivated for some mapping again. So I would like to request my old territory of UL21a again (currently "Brevinfeld", which I would rename to "Barnaviddia").
My plan is to redo the mapping of UL21a almost completely, with a way more logical way of populating the country. My first attempt wasn't well-thought.
(Please note that I'm only requesting UL21a at the moment. I have no plans of editing the archived Älved or Boscunis, they can stay archived. Of course my old UL21b needs cleaning and I might eye on it someday, but for now I can focus on one territory).
Recent mapping: I have edited a blue area just to check that I can still do it, check my 2 last mappings in my history.

- Glad you are coming back, curious to see what you do with the territory. You are free to proceed with the topography at the border as you see fit, the mapping there was left in place to not disturb the existing mapping in UL21a. Best, Leowezy (talk) 19:33, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
