Noun Project Map icon 1463108.svgPhysical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Northyhia has a mixed climate influenced by its geography and history. The east cost is significantly colder and Rainier and windy as large storms are blown west over from the sea to the east. A mountain rage runs largely through the middle of the country heading west as the island curves. This is due to uplift from a past large ice age when a glacier from further north flattered most of the north and north east of the island making a more hilly and flat area. The north of the island is much flatter and colder with rain/ snow blown in from the east coast. Behind the mountain rage on the west coast the climate is more mixed /temperate ( similar to the upper north west coast of the USA). Warmer seas and winds will be blown gently from the sea to the west. Most of the population live on the south and west coast due to it's nicer warmer climate. As most rain will fall on the east side of the mountain rage the east coast with have a serious of small and medium rivers draining into the sea. The west coast will have two large river basins with smaller and medium rivers filtering into them ( one (the largest river)) towards the middle of the island and a medium sized river further south. Can't make link work but happy to dm/ or email my sketch idea of the island. The smaller islands surrounding will be largely rocky mountain landscapes with one possibly having a large dormant/ ancient inactive volcano.

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

the country demographic are mixed and complex, influenced by history and geography. Most the population will live on the south and and west coast of the island with a large population around 50 percent living in three large west coast cities and smaller towns/ cities and settlements. The north and east coasts will be less populated with most living in small farming towns and villages with the towns and cities being much smaller and more regional. As the north is coldest it will be the least populated with only a few fishing and farming communities and towns.

The HDI economic development will be similar to that of Estonia with a developed industrial base mainly in the west and south centered around cities and towns.

The demographic will be complex. While most of the population today identify themselves as white Norhyhians (around 82 percent) this group is ultimately made up of historically different ancient groups moving to the island at different times in history from close areas that now identify as one. The population pyramid is complex with most of the north and east coast being older with less children and less imagination. Other ethnic groups will be a mix of different demographics from other players islands and nations with those closest making up a good proportion of the imagrent demographic around 14 percent. Other major world demographic will make up the rest of the 4 percent of population. The west will be largely younger, more male and have a slightly higher birth and child rate.

Mapping style will be similar to my demo area (all saints see bottom middle of the demo zone)

Noun Project languages icon 105908 cc.svgHistory & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

The history is long and complex. Now a constitutional monarch. Slow to industrialise during the industrial revolution but now a major export of renuable energy with an advanced industrial base. Long and ones proud history of whaling especially in the east ocean and west sea. Strong history of fishing and sailing. The language will be English ( simply because I can't speak any other language) and the culture will be similar to Iceland, Norway, and the pharaoh islands. The culture today is largely very progressive (especially in west coast cities) with advanced rights for demographics such as women, gay, trans, ethnic minorities etc.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

https://opengeofiction.net/#map=11/11.5233/-112.7337&layers=B . The link should be off my land in the bottom middle of the new players demo zone showing the city of all saints, The towns of manswick and tafferton and a lot of small villages. It's missing things I planned to include such as power plants, water treatment centers along the river, a old air force base, garbage dump etc. but wanted to show I can map on a small and large scale and can put detail where they are needed.

Discussion for clarification & decision

Hello TeddyEddy, thank you for your application. Your mapping in the demo zone is varied and very detailed, qualifying you for our own private territory. The overall concept for your country fits into the East Uletha concept in terms of climate, geography and culture. Before approving your application, allow me to ask for clarifications on just some minor details:

  • You describe your plans for the territory in much detail already. Please also draft a sketch visualizing your plans. For some guidance see Help:Making realistic countries, and no need to worry about making it pretty, a screenshot edited in paint suffices.
  • I'd encourage you to brainstorm some ideas about what other languages might have been present in your territory before English. Maybe some Scandinavian language from some territory nearby to yours? But it could also be a Celtic language, another Germanic language, or something different alltogether. In Great Britain for example, place names vary a lot between Scotland, England, Wales, or Northern Ireland due to different local languages before the Anglo-Saxons came. I'm sure this would add another level of depth and realism to your country.

Hey leowezy. Thanks for getting back to me so soon and glad that you like my idea and my demo zone. Iv created a little map of my idea. Sorry it's a bit rubbing. The link for it should be here https://imgur.com/a/BM0q0N1

hopefully the link works.

I like your idea about naming and language. I have found a name randomizer online which gives some good Germanic, Scandinavian names so it should give some more realistic and unique names. That being said I'm also open to different names if people in the community have good ideas too.

Thanks again. Can't wait to get started!
