Territory ID and proposed name
The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

UL25d∈⊾ƨ - Etsé

Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

Climate

The territory has a continental climate and a visible latitudinal climatic difference: the mountain range crosses the country from northwest to the southeast, interrupting the flow of the air masses from the southwest (prevailing temperate winds of the Northern hemisphere). The oceanic currents barely affect the area, but the water in the south is warmer than the water in the north. Due to latitudinal mountain range, the solar radiation mostly reaches the southern slopes, making the snow stay longer in the north.

Attached is the climate map of UL25d. It may be compared to Newfoundland, Hokkaido and Sakhalin.

The climate.

Topography

The mountain range crosses the entire island. Its highest altitude is ~850 - 900 metres above the sea.

The topography.

Landscape

The territory is dominated by the boreal forests. The glacial lakes in the north stretch in NW-SE direction. The effects of glaciation are almost absent in the south. A few lagoons exist at the shores.

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Demographics

Etsé is a newly developed state that just went through its population boom. Its birth rates are decreasing and the population growth is mostly achieved through migration. The life expectancy is 70-75 years. 65% of the population are the native East Ulethans, 25% are the successors of the colonists, and 10% have the other origins. The population will not exceed 3 million, it'd be rather 2-2,5 million.

Economic development

GDP per PPP per capita is 40 000 Intl$. HDI is around 0.77 and it increased drastically since the turn of the century. The main industries are shipbuilding, port amenities' manufacturing and fishing.

Land occupation

Significant portions of the land are occupied by the natural reserves that contrast with the coal mining still prevalent in the mountains. Most of the land is owned by the government through government corporations or direct ownership. Farmland is almost always private and it is located in the river valley closer to the capital of the country. Private housing is prevalent only in the countryside, and most of the urban development are apartments, condos or semi-detached houses.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure.

The car ownership rate is low, the citizens rely on public transportation, bikes in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter. The central heating and hydropower are prevalent, but the wind power is growing in the recent years. The colonial rule left an impact on the lives of the citizens. Cities are aligned in the grid in the older downtowns, quite chaotic in the native-developed areas, but the newer developments tend to copy cul-de-sac street alignment in the richer areas and the Eastern European microdistrict street alignment in the poorer areas.

Mapping style

Russian Far East, Korea, Hokkaido.

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

The land started to be populated by Homo sapiens since the last glaciation. In the early holocene, the fishing tribes lived there, mostly of East Ulethan origin. The area was colonized in the 1500s by Izaki sailors, then conquered by Valonaise(?) and purchased by the Surians in the 18th century. After the September Revolution of 1912, Suria lost control of its colonial possessions and the Surian exilee monarchists started living there. After The Great War, the area was occupied by the joint [Pax Nova AN predecessor] forces and was mandated until 1964 when it gained independence, but the full recognition and accession to the AN happened in 2005.
