Trevers (/ˈtɹɛvɜːs/; Franquese: Trevrès), officially the City of Trevers, is the second-most populous city in Paroy (after Coleraine) and the most populous city and state capital of Verona. Situated in the Ansy Bay in Southern Verona, Trevers is known for its mediterranean climate, its international seaport Port of Trevers and old port along the coast of the city, its ethnic diversity, compact metropolis and as a major center of the Paroyan entertainment industry.

Historically home to indigenous tribes, Trevers was claimed as Melwick by John D. Melwick for Ingerland in 1547, along with the rest of the Lower Ansy area. The settlement functioned as a port for transporting goods like crystals, gold, oil, lumber and tropical fruits and spices to Ingerland and other colonies like Freedemia. The city was assumed capital of the United States of Paroy, but only became the official capital in 1621. In the 17th century the city developed into an important trading post on the coast of the Strait of Lyc. Unity Market grew into a location serving all kinds of merchants throughout the year for various export products. In the 18th century the city grew to half a million inhabitants and began to focus on international transit trade and became one of the largest harbours worldwide. After the unification to the Independent States, Paroy was one of the founders of the Ardoin Trade League.

The city is the heart of the Greater Trevers and Trevers metropolitan area, which contain 5 million and over 8 million inhabitants, respectively, making it one of the most populous metropolitan areas in Paroy, and one of the densest urban areas in Tarephia. The city’s inhabitants are referred to as Treverians.

Nicknamed the “Star in the West”, Trevers is a global city with a diverse economy in entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, industry, (bio)technology and research. It is commonly referred to as a smart city and one of the most substantial economic engines – if not the largest – in Paroy. The city hosted the 1936 Summer Geolympiad and several other international sport events. Frequently finals of such events are held in the Seneca Stadium, which is the largest stadium in Paroy with a capacity of 85,000 and home to i.a. Trevers FC.

History

Pre-colonial period

There is not much known about the period before the Ingerish habitation, but a few appliances were found in the last few decades. Archaeologists say there are many more items to be found, especially in the riverbed of the river Ansy. In the coming years there are many excavations planned since many buildings are demolished and make place for new commercial buildings alongside the river.

Boroughs, suburbs and neighborhoods

There are almost a hundred different neighborhoods in Trevers, spread over more than 35 suburbs and 7 boroughs, sometimes called metropolitan districts.

• Bay View is the oldest part of the town. All the suburbs once were independent towns during the Ingerish Colonial period, then formed together with Unity as the City of Trevers. The borough thanks its name to the beautiful view on the Imperial Bay, where the river Ansy leads to. The borough is still known as the historic part of town and is still home to many old buildings and appartments. The old cities of Melwick and Weston are built very densely. Bay View includes the suburbs Melwick, Weston, South Bay, Mantess, and Piermont.

• Unity is the most densely populated borough and is home to many parks and most of the city’s skyscrapers. Unity is the administrative, financial and commercial center of the city and contains the headquarters of many major corporations, an important university, a large park along the river Ansy and many cultural attractions. Unity houses many international shops, the large and famous Trevers-Unity railway station and a major nightlife district. Unity is divided in Unity Market, Burton, Crystal City, Abely Valley, Outlook and Florence.

• Vale Cross is the most cultural diversed borough in Trevers. The city is located at the bifurcation of the river Ansy and its distributary river Vale, giving the borough its name. Others say the name is given due to the fact there used to be a large rail relay in earlier times, named after the river Vale. While the borough generally is suburb-like, its feels like a city on its own. After the 1960s, the part of town was reconnected after a plan of Mincon, mayor at that time. Despite the many unifications with the other boroughs, Vale Cross feels the most alienated of all boroughs. The borough is divided in the suburbs Lattimore, Goldston, Springvale, Earlston, Brewton and Los Ranchos.

• Freling is the borough north of the city center, housing the oldest suburbs that were meant to be real suburbs. This could still be seen in Rockwood and Monument Hills, but after the 1960s the city expanded and new suburbs were build. This is also the reason why the house prices are very high in this part of the city. Waverly is the only exception since it is still seen as a part of the old city like Weston. Freling is also home to the new expanded international harbour. With hills in the center part of the borough, it is the most geological diverse borough of all.

• Vale Fords is the largest of the boroughs in Trevers, and is actually part of Fords County. The area is, due to its large size, very diverse. Eagan and Concordia are seen as part of the inner town, while the rest on the eastside of river Vale is seen as suburbs. Vale Fords contains the Rayo Dome (large sports and event venue), the Trevers Fletcher International Airport, the old market halls of neighbour city Starford and many parks.

• Ansy Springs is the sixth, but actually one of the oldest boroughs of Trevers. It stretches from the most western point at Arcott to the eastern park of Nathal Springs, about 14 km in length. The borough is just as Bay View formed from independent towns and villages. The name is actually incorrect, since its orientated at the spring of the river Ansy, while its actually located at the delta of Ansy.

• Emberton is the most eastern borough of all, including many villages that were once independent. Graps can still be seen with the town borders of Starford and Leroy. The borough contains the University neighborhood, home of the University of Trevers, many old neighborhoods with room for green, lots of museums, a conservatory and observatory.

Trevers has a subtropical climate Csb on the coast, Csa inland). The city has plenty of sunshine throughout the year, with an average of only 50 days with measurable precipitation annually. Average temperatures may very between 25°C and 35°C in summer and between 15°C and 25°C in the winter, meaning winters are quiet delicate. This is the reason much of the area's vegetation is very diverse, differing from oaks and maples to palm trees of several species.

Hurricanes and massive tropical storms occure rarely, although there are some remains of hurricanes hitting the Trevers metropolitan area often. This together with lots of rain and even hail, seen for the last time in 1992 when parts of Arcott and Prestonsburgh were destroyed. The damage accompanied with this tropical storms is still visible in some parts of the town, at that time leading to hundreds of deaths by people buried under odds and ends. In 2011, another tropical storm almost hit the coast of Trevers. As a result, thousands of inhabitants were evacuated. Remotely the storm only lead to high waves, flooding parts of the old Port Melwick harbour.

Military installations

Trevers is home to Fort Mantess, the Paroy military's only active duty installation within the city. Established in 1680 in Mantess in the center of the town as the New Ingerland Protection Front, it is one of Paroy's longest serving military forts. Today Fort Mantess serves as the headquarters of the Western Combat Division, a part of the Paroyan National Ground Forces, the 205th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, the 43rd and 75th division of the National Guard. The base is also used for military training and reserve operations.
