Please fill in the information below to make a territory request.
Territory ID and proposed name
The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

UL-125 - Suvuma

Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

Tropical island, speaking Polynesian language, similar geography to big island of Hawaii, small cities and towns along coast, some interior farmland, and much internal forest.

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Demographics: Mostly native Polynesian peoples, with a history of colonialism by Denmark, generally developed but tourism- and fishing-heavy economy; Infrastructure: Mostly roads, a coastal highway connecting all major settlements; Mapping style: Not really sure what that means../

Language and culture: Polynesian culture, speaking a similar language to Maori which I am currently constructing, possibly called Maoli or Suvumi.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

You can see my beginner territory in the squares area, which shows my mapping.

Hello Sortsdam, thank you for your territory application. Suvuma (UL33e; the subdivisions' names are inaccurate in that regard) is, as shown on the territory overview map, not available as an individual territory. That is because it is reserved as long-time option for a tropical, South-East-Asia inspired collaboration project. Furthermore, Suvuma appears to be quite too large for "a similar geography to Hawaii", by many orders of magnitude.

I find your concept for a Polynesian nation with Danish colonialisation very interesting an promising. You've also mapped quite an interesting range of styles so far, from "Arabic Grandesque" to polynesian nature. Have a look around available territories to see what other options fit your plans. At first glance, UL05h, i or k (west of Suvuma) seem like potential candidates, but you would have to inquire with Bixelkoven and/or Alessa (regional admins for West Uletha) about that. They will also be the right people to ask about where a Danish homeland in West Uletha is or would likely be located, which your nation would somehow relate to. For more options, please have a look through OpenGeofiction:Territory application; for most continents, a regional plan is linked which details out the different cultural and climatic spheres for each continent. This should help you identify further suitable regions for your future territory.

I'll leave this territory application thread open for a few days, in case other mappers or regional admins want to comment further or you have any further questions. Once you are ready to go for a new territory application, I will then close this one. Best, Leowezy (talk) 16:08, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
