* I don't have the resources right now to do an outline sketch but I will be able when I get access to a proper PC. This is a request for a second territory. I moved the article and recycled it, because most of the content works for both applications. I modified it a little bit to fit this new state. *** On such a large scale, I mean. With JOSM's download limit. You are being very diresct and unhelpful. If you don't want to handle this application, perhaps you could delegate it to another admin or something. I'm only trying to get some help applying for a territory. --[[User:Veni Vidi Vici|Veni Vidi Vici]] ([[User talk:Veni Vidi Vici|talk]]) 22:49, 29 December 2024 (UTC)

ForumsTerritory application → Territory application/AR120-28 - Arginia

Please fill in the information below to make a territory request.
Territory ID and proposed name
The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

AR120-28 - Arginia

Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

Arginia appears to be located in an area similar to perhaps Pennsylvania or Vermont geographically. The mountains which appear to be an Appalachia equivalent would run straight through the west of the state. Much of the population would live in small towns along river valleys in these mountains. As such it would also be densely forested, and rich in coal.

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Arginia would have first been populated by a Native American people group, which I call the Tacat. They speak/spoke Calta Piina, a conlang I made a while ago. They are the namesake for much of the settlements in the state, but others were established by Europeans. The state can essentially be divided into three parts economically.

The Southeast

The Southeast is the most developed and populated. It borders the metropolis and capital city of Huntington where much of the population commute to. Huntington's suburbs also extend into Arginia. The largest city in the state is also located here - Arching Green. Arching Green developed as a railroad town and benefited greatly from the coal industry coming from the mountains. Another city, and the state capital, Connaught, within the megalopolis of Huntington-Connaught-Arching Green was established as the main city in the Colony of Arginia during colonial times and as such has a very historic city centre.

The North

The North is primarily made up of rolling plains. The main industry is farming, and towns are not very big. The largest city here is Baughland.

The West

The West is very disconnected from the rest of the state. It is extremely mountaineous. It does, however, have an abundance of coal which is attributed to much of its growth. Winding railways follow narrow valleys to access the coal which formerly carried the country on its back. Since the advent of diesel locomotives, however, it has seen great decline. Less demand and government regulation among other things led to the death of this region. In the early 2000s, there was a major tourism boost to the area which bought in new money and the region is starting to grow again. The largest city in the West would be named Gallery.

Infrastructure is aging but slowly being replaced all across the state.

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

The mountains allowed a distinct culture to emerge in the west and south of the state, which in turn rubs off on the rest in some ways. Small Amish communities exist in the most remote of valleys and the culture of the Tacat people has also been preserved somewhat in the Southwest of Arginia. A distinct Ingerish dialect exists in the state aswell as local customs and folklore. In the East, especially around the megalopolis Huntington-Connaught-Arching Green the culture is much more similar to that found in Ponquin or the rest of the East Coast.

Past mapping
To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

I have been mapping for a while. I have a country on OGF called Aldevira which is based on Albania, located here. I have previously worked on a beginner's territory BG36 here which I'm not as proud of. It has a mix of cultures, but primarily Irish.

On Arhet, an alternative OGF map in which there are very little rules, I have worked on two territories:

Poblacht Fáil (and surroundings) which is very much a work in progress. I have been working on detailing specific regions rather than the whole country so far. My other territory is Scituate (yes I came up with the name myself!), a Massechussets-based colony/state in which I will map time progression starting in 1690 and finishing in the modern day.

  • Thank you for reading! --Veni Vidi Vici (talk) 19:04, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
  • I do like how this request is looking, however the territory you want current has another application going on here: Forum:Territory application/AR120-08 - Ardelia. So despite being a normal user, I thought it was important to tell you this. RhodeIslandWV (talk) 19:14, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
  • I should have noticed this! I will move the article to a different territory and change it. --Veni Vidi Vici (talk) 19:36, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
  • This is the current article. --Veni Vidi Vici (talk) 19:50, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
  • You link to past BG36 mapping, highlighting you're not proud of it. Can you please tidy this up / delete it. You also refer to your current territory, but do not clarify if this request is for a second territory, or in exchange for it? You've also changed the requested state, without any change to the proposal, so it doesn't hang together - you will also need to supply an outline sketch. Thanks/wangi (talk) 20:49, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
