An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Denaría has a dessert climate. There is a continental mountain range in the south, with pockets of mediterranean climate. Then the highlands take place. Here the desert its cold due to the altitude (2000 m). There are big salt lakes. Its a region with a lot of mineral resources. Then the altitude lows and take place a vast hot desert, with big pockets of sands. In the coast there is a minor mountain range, that helps to retain certain humidity in the northwest part of the country. Here the mayority of the population concentrates. https://imgur.com/fQL8StDhttps://imgur.com/B63R3iz https://imgur.com/QFLYpr8

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

The country is big with a very low density of pepople. The people concentrates in the northwest, where milder weather allows agriculture. The waters resources are very scarce. In the coast there are more populated centers, due to the oil extraction centers. This and the mining industry are the economic pilars of the country. The infrastructure is developing fast in the coast, but in the interiors is precarius. The country depends on the importation of food. Thus, in the last decades, the goverment has driven an agricultural revolution. With resources from mining and oil it has build big desalination plants for human and agricultural uses.

A brief description of the intended culture and language

The desert has been long inhabited by nomadic tribes. In the highlands more advanced groups can be found. The coast was conquered by castellans (the official language is castellan), but this was a very poor colony, so that the country gained easily the independence from they in the XVIII century. There was a big inestability period, and when the oil was discovered a dictator took the power (1950-1980). With a revolution the country return to democracy till the present day. This history has concentrate in the coastal regions, but nowadays, with the rapidly expanding mining industry, there has been problems with the indigenous population, especially in the highlands.

Hi Tars,

Thank you for this highly detailed request. I do like the 3 (now 4 while typing this message) explanatory maps that make your plans easy to understand. 1 question and a few remarks:

  • Though I don't have objection regarding the use of Spanish, given the territory location and history, I wonder whether you could use indigenous names for toponyms, including the country name instead of Castellanese ones? The idea would be to be more on the México/Tegucigalpa/Panama types for local names than Spanish-Spanish Argentina/Santiago/Rosario ones. This might apply to personal names used for street names if you choose to. I suppose, given the size of the territory and the history you presented, these indigenous names will vary from region to region.

Side note: Antioquia is a populous Colombian departamento (where Medellín is located) and Antioquía is a rather famous antique city in now Turkey. I would advise against using these name.

  • When AN130 was redesigned, I created a land_area relation meaning AN130 spans 764,139km2 (more or less Turkey but with a chunkier look) with roughly 1,800km of coastline.
  • It appears isleño mapped the large sand patches some 6 years ago. They don't have to stay as such but some of the shapes could be repurposed.
  • The continental mountain range silhouette has been very roughly re-designed when reforming various territories. The only "important" thing here is the border doesn't always run along the watershed divide and consequently AN130 controls some upper valleys of rivers flowing southward (some international watercourse have been mapped/kept as they draw borders).
  • As you may see, not all AN130 has been cleaned from previous mapping. My main point would be to be careful with superimposed ways and overlapping relations. I limited myself to clean/correct errors just enough to maintain the territory relation & land_area relation. --Aiki (talk) 18:14, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Hi Aki

Thanks for the fast response.

-Of course i can use indegenous toponyms. I use the names only because is easier for me to think in colonial toponyms, but with more tough i can create indigenous ones. I thought maybe "Dacategia" could be a better country name and the capital "Ciudad Dacatega". I use the spanish colionalism only as a escuse, because i want to write in spanish my native language. I like the toponym style of mexico and the indigenous languages, so i can bring inspiration from there. My speciality its not the names or the history. I like to map geographic features and then the names can be given. Any recomendation with the toponyms is welcome.

- I named Antioquía la Vieja because there is a city in the other country named antioquía. But it was only an idea.

-I will clean de map (especially the cities and motorways), but it has a nice coastline i plan to detail, and some sand seas can be usefull too. I use JOSM so the errors will be solved at time with the maping.

-I can reshape the southern border in detail, so it match the watershed divide. But i have to move the border inner my country or i can reshape the natural features.

Thanks for these elements. There's no need for make the the border coinciding with natural features in any location, my remark was just pointing out the fact that AN130, in some places, "goes" over the ridge and has some land on the southern slopes. Aiki (talk) 19:58, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
