TA112 - Adhuken

Noun Project Map icon 1463108.svgPhysical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Tropical tending to mediterranean climate. The climate is mild and with little fluctuation with a mean annual temperature of around 19ºC.

- Wet climate next to the coast. Here a significant portion of the territory, if not by cities or towns, is covered in cropland.

- A large mountain range goes from north-west to east-west. Other than that, there are only occasional mountains, but the topography is quite flat. In the map the mountain range is represented in brown.

- Forests cover a significant part of the inland, especially around the great mountain range. Forest area is depicted in green in the map.

- The most important rivers are marked in blue in the map.

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Approximate population of Adhuken: 40 M

The majority of the population concentrates next to the coast. The forest area, and more significantly the mountain area, is sparcely populated. There are a few small regions in the west part of the country, however, that are not covered in forest in their majority and also have a relatively high population density (south-west corner, for instance).

There are three cities in the country with a population of over 1 M inhabitants. The three of them are marked with a black square in the sketch. The only inland city among the three ones is called Inselsee, and is the historical and political center of the country, as well as the capital city.

The other dots (circular and black) in the map are other important cities, but neither of them reach one million inhabitants.

The economy of Adhuken sustains itself in tourism mainly, and also agriculture. The nice Caribbean climate has made their economy skyrocket in the past decades and a lot of cities have emerged, especially next to the coast, where the tourism is higher. The tourism is even more important in the center-east coast, in the areas closer to the capital city

The mapping style will strongly ressemble that of the spanish regions of Catalonia (the coast and bigger cities) and Aragon (small towns and mountains)

A brief description of the intended culture and language

Although the sole official language of Adhuken is Spanish, an important part of their population speak English regularly.

The reason behind this is a past colonization of Adhuken by English colonizers. As soon as they gained independence, tourism was promoted and the country started to grow. The new government put measures to increase the usage of Spanish, which had decreased during the colonization, but it was more effective in some areas than in others. Nowadays, most of the country is Spanish-speaking, but there is still a region where English is predominant. This region is marked in orange in the sketch of the country. Curiously enough, the English-speaking region of Adhuken is precisely that where the capital is located (Inselsee) and the tourism is higher (centre-east coast). The Inselsee name itself has an English-Germanic origin, and most of the names in that region do, too.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

My past mappings have been in the beginner territory BG02 during the past one and a half years.

There I have developed both urban and rural mapping.

Urban mapping example: city of Inselsee (link)

Rural mapping example: Junctionham region (link)

Discussion for clarification & decision

Since I had been mapping more than a year in my past territory, I would appreciate it a ton if you could move some of my past territories to the new one, if the territory request is approved. I already included those in my planning for Adhuken, so I don't think it will be a problem. These are the ones that I would like to move, with the link to the location where I'd like them to be:

  1. The Inselsee city, including all of the lake (link) moved to TA112 here (link).
  2. I'd like to replace this part of the east coast in TA112 (link) with my previous east coast back in BG02, which goes from Harring-sur-Mer to Dindörf, including all of the Junctionham region from Port Junction all the way to Zeptorr (approximate link).
  3. The city of Megápolis in BG02 (link) moved to TA112 here (link)

I'm looking forward to your response, thanks a lot!

Hi Ouponamap; please bear in mind that Spanish is not native to Tarephia; and all of the Spanish territories here are, historically speaking, colonies too. Having said that, I'm quite satisfied with the mapping you've showcased and the plan you posted. I'll send you a private message through OGF to discuss the moving of your previous mapping.
