The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

UL20d - Ohemia

For this application, I would like to re-apply for UL20d again but I would like to retain my former territory; I would still move most of my work to the new territory (if this is possible)

An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

The country will adhere to a semi-arid or continental climate, in accordance to Sector 20 (Central Ulethan Steppe).

Natural mapping from the North-west and South-west will also be somewhat extended.

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Ohemia will have a HDI of ~0.85, and will be modelled similarly from Romania to Poland. The current nation is currently at 0.805.

The population will be around 30-35 million.

I do prefer if the Southern and Western borders looked more natural as Ohemia may have external influences from other nations, but it never would have been a colony. I am also uncertain on the position of the Ispelian exclave.

Mapping style: Mostly European. Inspirations include: Hamburg, Saint Petersburg, London, Paris, Black Sea Region (Turkey, Georgia), Brisbane, etc. Poorer regions will look like Siberian Cities. I intend to reuse some of my currently mapped cities, except for some that are beyond 'refurbishment'.

Noun Project languages icon 105908 cc.svgHistory & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

Ohemia will be using a pre-existent constructed language from the previous territory. It loosely uses Slavic and Caucasian influences, but is somewhat a priori. This fits well with Suria as a neighbour.

It uses a modified Latin script. The language is still developing and the orthography could particularly be extended, but I am content with it at the moment. It also uses Diphthongs as its own characters, with the archaic implementation on the right side (table below)

/eɪ/ E̊e̊ / Ææ
/ʌɪ/ I̊i̊ / ꭢ
/ɨ/ Īī / ꭡ
/ɔɪ/ O̊o̊ / Œœ

The culture adheres to Ekelan Chrisiticism as well as a cultural religion which is influenced from Mithraism but would considered to be like some Chinese syncretic religions in their own respective sense.

If any more information is required, feel free to contact me.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

  • Thank you for your application. I really like your concept and think it fits in well with the area regarding climate, language and economic development. For completeness' sake, please provide a rough sketch of your plans for the new territory (for which I highly recommend Help:Making_realistic_countries) before I can approve your application. Regarding changes to the southern and western border, those would be fine with me, but I'll consult with stjur as well. Regarding the Ispelian exclave, please reach out to user jak. If you seek assistance with the move, please reach out to me. Leowezy (talk) 19:05, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
  • Hi Leowezy, thanks for your response. After assessing the feasibility of this move, I unfortunately may have to stop the application as I hadn't recognised the effects of moving to another continent, mainly due to the interdependence of my conlang on other nations in Antarephia. I would have liked to map in this region, so I may later on request a smaller territory near the Egalian Lake. Joebro (talk) 04:40, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
  • As you wish :) Happy mapping in your new old neighbourhood, Leowezy (talk) 18:14, 23 August 2022 (UTC)
  • (After request was reopened by applicant) Hey joebro. As stated earlier, your concept is very nice and qualifies you for UL20d. Thank you for providing the sketch. Moving your previous work to UL20d is also possible, let me know if you need assistance with that. Regarding keeping your old territory: both Ohemia and UL20d are more on the larger end of territories, and while there definitely are some nice examples of large-scale land cover mapping in Ohemia, I am afraid it is not enough to justify granting you two full-sized personal territories yet. If you move your mapping from Ohemia to UL20d, you would effectively just own an almost empty territory in Antarephia. Of course sufficient time for moving your mapping from your old to your new territory would be granted if you wish to proceed. After you have developed your new or old territory to a larger degree, you can still reapply for your old or another territory of course, according to the guidelines set out at OpenGeofiction:Territory application. Please let me know if you would like to proceed with the territory request, swapping your old territory for UL20d, or if you have any further questions. Cheers, Leowezy (talk) 16:23, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
  • I understand. I will accept these conditions for the swapped territories, Thanks, Joebro (talk) 02:35, 4 January 2023 (UTC)

As you develop your territory, be sure to keep it realistic. Here are some resources you may find useful for starting out: Help:Portal, Help:Making realistic countries, Help:Making realistic cities and OpenGeofiction:Site policies
