The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

AR120-13 -New Dover

I am exchanging it for Karva for the following reasons:

1. Just tons of inactivity: it was only me and What editing in that area. It will be more active here

2. Karva was English in a German area.

3. The main reason I wanted Karva was the split idea. But the inland ended up like junk. The mainland was me focus

ALSO: the only things on Karva is its flag (which I might just use for this state seeing as I like it.), the page, the {Karva} Template, and "File:Cities_In_Karva_1708_To_2020V1.png". I would be more than happy to have all of Karva wiped after I move those two things (which I now have saved on my pc)

Another thing is that I would like to bring a few things over from Karva. This is the small list so far:

This Interchnage, and a pond from the first place I made back in the demo zone.

An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

Climate:

The state is quite south so its winters are about 13℉ (-10℃) and in the summer around 75℉ (23℃)

Topography:

New Dovers is quite hilly. Ranging from as low as 10 ft to as high as 500 ft. Most of the hills are in the south and west.

The state will have many dense forests and streams, and few fields. Most being on the coast.

Rivers:

There are as of right now two rivers planned. One is the Fallport River and the other is the Dover River

Topo Map: here

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

The state will be quite dense, how many I estimate 1,000,000-3,000,000. But mapping will be inspired by Rhode Island and Connecticut and other states of such density. But in the south it may have spots that are not as dense.

I personally like really adding details to places so there may be brands I make but none of them will probably be used outside of New Dover. They can be though.

I have made an revised version of the Map. The image one is now out of date and this has been updated to be similar to the idea Fluffr Nuttr suggested.

NOTE: ND-8 will have the first part changed when we get a good name for the state.

Cities:

As of right now there are three cities. There are four but one does not have an name:

  1. Fallport - Fallport is the capital of New Dover and will house above 500k people.
  2. New Saxondale - New Saxondale is a twin city similar to Niagara Falls, Unites States and Niagara Falls, Canada but only with states.
  3. Dover - Dover is a smaller city that is on the Dover River. less than 100k people. Metro will be 100k+

Map of planned cities: here

(With or without names haha)

Highways:

Along the coast there is FS-1 and coming up from the south is FS-5. The rest are unknown and I ask somebody who knows what the highways that stay in New Dover should be called. Also the highways will be moved as new towns are added

Also all highways will be ND - (number) as I have not been able to find states using that.

Noun Project languages icon 105908 cc.svgHistory & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

The language is of course English.

New Dover started as a colony that was founded by (Still finding name SFN) anywhere from 1730 to 1780 (leaving a big gap for when the FSA gets history on its page and it will be easier to change if required) called Fallport and later became a state sometime from 1800 to 1810.

Due to lack of history I don't know/want to put anything more to make it easy to fit into history when created.

Extra:

I cant wait to start mapping in the FSA seeing I would be around more active people. I thought Karva would work out but after some time I realized that the main reason I was there for also just was not fun mapping.

And I would not worry about me leaving the FSA seeing that there will be more active users and also me and What can map on a border (I hope).

I would love to answer any questions on the state! Who knows you may makes me think about something I forgot lol

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

Hi! I'm the FSA's Eastern Coordinator.

Generally I think this is a strong application. The city placement and topography make sense in a regional context. My only major criticism is that we don't reuse major real world names, so New Dover is not ideal. The name New Saxondale is a bit problematic for similar reasons (I know it's from Ingerland, but Saxondale is a remnant name from a previous owner that I don't expect to stick around for long).

If you'd like, it may make sense to reroute FS 14 (currently labeled as FS 16, we switched those two) through New Saxondale. It was something I'd been considering for a bit as New Carnaby coordinator, anyways.

Regarding history: We do have basic pieces of information and a list of presidents here, but TheMayor has also drafted a more detailed outline. The Southeast was the first place to be colonized by the Ingerish, with settlement likely radiating out from the Stanton Strait region. And there's an analogue of our world's Congressional Church that has influence in the southeast of New Carnaby, if you want to use that tidbit for your state's history. --Fluffr Nuttr (talk) 01:21, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Oh don't worry I can change the name of the state. If anything New Dover was a really quick name. For now though I will lave the state with no name then. If I happen to get a good name idea while the application is still going I will put it here. If I get it after I can massage you it through the OGF messaging system (I am waiting for a reply to join the OGF discord). I can route FS 14 into New Saxondale. Due to be sucking at names I am open to any you have too. And seeing that this would be a good time but why if this state actually spit off from New Carnaby? I don't know how it could come about but it would be interesting. But please tell me if Fallport is an ok capital name. The more I say it the nicer it sounds lol

Can't wait to talk more (I hope soon also!) MiniMapper (talk) 02:13, 24 January 2024 (UTC) UPDATE: the twin cities between me and What will be changed to better fit the naming. My end will be Fallport and will be change to the States Capital down there, and what will have Fallsburry.

I found a new name for the state, Densly. Its code will be DN- for highways. I hope this works cuz I love the name MiniMapper (talk) 04:30, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

  • Hi, the proposed name of "New Dover" is a non-starter - our policy of being original and not using real-world terms (wikipedia:Dover). As for "Densly" - just say it... The state was previously called Oakley, this might work? Thanks/wangi (talk) 10:52, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
