Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Its economy consists of farming, Fishing and other seafood like kelp, its 83% Valonnian, 15% Antarephian/indigenous people, mainly in the northwest. The other 2% are other cultures. it has a smaller military And focuses on its economy. it'll be mapped like Valonna, with farmhouses in the valleys and low plains and french like villages. The subtropic winds from the north make the nation cool but still warm enough to farm, so its farmable.

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

The nation will speak Vallonian/French Due to colonialism and a Native conlag thats spoken in the northwest that's been slightly changed do to the settlers. The nation was originally a Valonnian settlement during the colonial era, The Vallonians settled there in 1596 when they found the land and discovered fish and kelp so they kept it as a colony. the indegenous were not happy with the Vallonians that they were using their land for rescourses it later went under a revolt in 1736 and gained its independence. Colonialism isn't always friendly, so when they gained independence, the island was still mainly indegenous people (72% indegenous) only the northwestern quarter gained independence, (The First Mayrdise Revolution) outside the newly formed Republic of Mayærœk, (the name before Republic of Mérédie) the indigenous were mass abused, put into slavery, and other horrible stuff. Most of the Mayrdise wanted to escape, so they began fleeing, while a lot of them didn't make it to Mayærœk, they did put up a good fight before being executed publicly, or crucified. The remaining people stayed in cities with a plan, working with the free Mayrdise, they chocked critical supply point like the major cities and large towns. The free Mayrdise swiftly connected them up Mayærœk and settled a important mountain outpost since the Valonians had no point in going up in the freezing mountains. They swiftly moved and encircled most of the army by using guerrilla warfare. (Second Mayrdise Revolution.) At this point, the other surrounding nations and tribes were annoyed with how Valony and other West Ulethan nations treated them, so They created SALD, or Southern Antarephian League of Defense. Together they kicked out the colonizers of Anteraphia, since Mérédie Valonian sounds more brighter and enthusiastic its called Mérédie instead of Méridie, and since everyone speaks Valonian and not a lot of people can speak Mayrdise (the native conlag,) the name was change to the Republic of Mérédie.

The revolutions were brutal and it decreased the population down from 72% to 15%

Hi Wesman,
Thank you, for your application. Could you please provide a bit more context on the mapping style? If Valonians colonised the island, towns and villages are likely to have developed more like similar settlements than French villages. Depending on the timing of this colonisation, it may resemble North America French Urban planning (e.g village -> town: Trois-Rivière, walled Québec, Old Montréal, New Orleans) or 19th century developments like Algiers or Hanoi. The island is still at a reasonable latitude (~Vancouver/North of France) so a developed agriculture industry could be indeed feasible. As Antarephia is meant to be for made-up cultures with no true parallel in the real world, I would advise to enhance a bit the indigenous part.
Thank you,

Also, I would advise against using Mayrdie for a Valonian/French name as it sounds like Shitland in French (read similar to Merdie). --Aiki (talk) 01:45, 8 August 2026 (UTC) Acting administrator for AN/TA

. for the french part, smaller towns and villages will have organic style grids while the larger towns and cities will have a quebec like style (if theyre newer towns)

If the large towns are older, they'll have a organic center and a north american grid in flat areas. (If not flat then just organic.) If the outer edge is newer than it'll have a quebec style mapping.

the native area of the island will be just organic mapping, the only exception being if colonizers expanded these towns.

The name Mérédie in french comes from the word meridie in Latin which means south or at midday. This also works because valony is north above the tropic, so at midday you look south to see the sun and that tells the Valonians that "Oh, Mérédie is south of here" and Mérédie is on a similar longitude to Valony, so its almost directly south Mérédie Wesman (talk) 18:02, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
