The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country |
The ID is AR059b, and the proposed name for the country is Auronia.
Physical geography | |

An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar) |
The climate is mostly arid, with smaller amounts of temperate lands by the coast. The topography is mostly flat, however a mountain range stretches south-north from the coast and turns west as it goes towards the Ardisphere border. It eventually flattens out into hills as it reaches the Ardisphere border. Natural disasters are also a major part of this country, with bushfires, floods, droughts, and things like that occurring quite often. West of the mountain range the landscape can be described as quite flat and "endless". However east of the mountain range it can be hily and a bit rugged, however, there is a central plain, not unlike the Kanto Plain or Melbourne Plain in the centre east of the mountain range. The proposed name for this mountain range is the "Auronian Divider".

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style |
The territory is similar to Australia, being quite a melting pot of different cultures. The indigenous group of the nation as they were pushed out by colonists and settlers are dominant in the arid regions of the country. The capital city, in the central-eastern plain, is one of the most multicultural cities in the region, with hundreds of cultures and languages existing there. The economy of Auronia was originally quite primary industry based. With farming making up a large sector of the economy right into the 1950s and 1960s. One of the biggest exports of Auronia, right up into the 1950s was it's prized sheep wool. Along with farming, another big export up until the 1980s was it's manufactured goods, including the dominant car brand in the country, still to this day, Frost Motors, named after the founder, Daniel Burke Frost. As the 1980s progressed, the manufacturing industry was becoming less profitable. With companies exporting their factories. However, Frost Motors' cars were always and still are only produced in Auronia. As the manufacturing sector slowly folded, the service sector rose rapidly. With, by just 2000, over 70% of Auronia's workers being in the service industry. Some notable economic downturns in Auronia's history include, but are not limited to, the 1890s and early 1900s economic slump, when a major drought occurred across, what was at the time, several colonies. This created a certain sense of aspiration in the people of Auronia when they gained independence from their colonisers in the year 1900 (unsure what country to use) during a time of immense hardship. The next major economic hardship occurred in the 1940s and early 1950s. This being a result in a slump of global trade in general, this wasn't as intense as the Federation Depression as it was known as, however still saw major structural changes. The next, and one of the most recent, was in the late 1980s and early 1990s, mainly driven due to a spike in inflation, interest rates going above 20%, and high levels of unemployment due to the major factory closures that occurred across that time. This crisis was exacerbated by the conservative government in at the time, with the government not wanting to support the citizens of Auronia a great deal, this also led to the landslide 1992 election in which, the Labour Party won with 83% of the vote. The most recent major economic downturn was in 2012 and 2013, when, due to a government deadlock, a new budget could not be passed, leading to major problems with social security in Auronia, not to mention high unemployment, and many strikes, as a direct result of states not being able to pay service workers as the government wasn't properly paying them, this was only worsened by rising inflation throughout the early 2010s, along with a sudden interest rate spike by the Auronian Reserve Bank (ARB) from 2.4% to 16%, to combat the rising inflation. In the present day, Auronia's economy is quite good, with some of the best HDI indicators on the globe. The land occupation of Auronia is extremely unequal. This being due to the rainshadow caused by the Auronian Divider. With the coast and land east of the Auronian Divider being fairly densely populated, while west of the Divider, it is quite sparse, with population density falling by magnitudes over the 50 kms that the Auronian Divider, including its foothills extend. Many towns west of the Divider are also struggling in the modern day, as young people move to the cities on the east coast. With some towns having average ages upwards of 55 years old. The infrastructure of Auronia is quite developed, with several highways stretching the width and breadth of the nation. Not to mention the greatly developed public transport, which is rated consistently well. Healthcare and Education are completely free, with every facet of Healthcare, including dental, paid for in total by the government. Primary and Secondary Education is completely free, and Tertiary Education is greatly subsidised. I plan to make my mapping style akin to that of Australia, but also taking in consideration from Ardisphere with their mapping style.

A brief description of the intended culture and language |
There is no one intended culture for Auronia. The best way I could describe it is a cultureless culture. Where you see many cultures coming together and meshing well enough to create one united culture which takes in influences from all cultures. This again shows Auronia's similarity to Australia and New Zealand. The dominant language in Auronia is Ingerish, however, following the melting pot basis, hundreds of languages are spoken in Auronia's borders. With migrants and asylum seekers allowed in, in high numbers, to combat the lowering birth rate in Auronia.

Discussion for clarification & decision |
- Hi, you're going to need to supply an outline sketch of how you see the territory being mapped, along with links to examples, to evidence your experience mapping in the desired style. Otherwise the application cannot be considered.
- I'd also recommend you get more focus in the application: you are describing something which is a bit of everything, all of nothing. Come up with something much more specific. Also, the area you are requesting is intended for primarily "African" themes - if you are wanting to map in English then this isn't the place for it. Have a look in South Archanta. Thanks/wangi (talk) 12:45, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I am so sorry, i forgot to do the territory links, I will get to that tonight when I have access to my computer, also, do you think i should change territories since this is my first territory claim? Thanks/Dancingnerd (talk) 21:25, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- That's why i'm asking for example mapping and a sketch - so I can review them to make that decision. Honestly, given the moon on a stick geography section descriptions I think approval is unlikely. But again, that's why i've suggested you rework toward something much more focussed. Thanks/wangi (talk) 10:47, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- I have decided not to further pursue this, as I realise I am not ready ofr this level of responsibility in OGF as yet. Thanks/Dancingnerd (talk) 05:10, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
