Territory ID and proposed name
The Territory ID (from OpenGeofiction:Territories, e.g. AR123a) and proposed name of the country

AR120-08ƨ. Sivalta(subject to change) I'm only applying for the northern half of the territory as shown here. https://ibb.co/23hG9cm4

Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

https://ibb.co/NnK47Wfc This is a general layout of the geography of the state. Light green corresponds to mountainous areas and heavy forest cover. Tan corresponds to hills and foothills. The lime green corresponds to more coastal-like plains. Red corresponds to valleys. The blue line running through the south is the Bluegill River. Sivalta is almost entirely in a humid subtropical climate(Cfa) with warm summers and fairly chilly winters. They get worse with elevation. In the western parts of the state it is mostly an oceanic(Cfb) to humid continental(Dfb) as you go higher into the mountains. Weather in Sivalta is very unstable however and is subject to extreme change. Average winter temperatures range around 25F in the winter and 78F in the summer. https://ibb.co/6J1gB8c7 This is a quick sketch of waterways in the state.

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Sivalta has a population of 3.3 million. It is extremely dense around the Bluegill River Valley. A good 45%(1.4m) of the state lives there. Outside of that, the suburban and exurban areas around Huntington comprise another 30%(990k). The remainder is spread out very sparsely among the rest of the state. The good majority of the state is from the FSA and the populace is very conservative with its attitudes on immigration. Most people are of Valonnese descent and most immigration is from Valonne. The median household income is about $76,000. The HDI is 0.934. The state is quite wealthy with its biggest industries being the tech, agribusiness, and logging sectors. The federal government is the biggest employer and defense spending is major here. Here's a map of major cities. https://ibb.co/1JtkM2XT In order of population.

  1. Stascarth(state capitol)
  2. Joubertville
  3. Yarrow
  4. East Point
  5. Citadelle
  6. Carrollton
  7. Federal Springs

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

I and CityGuy(New Fricester owner) are planning Sivalta splitting off from NF during the Civil War but since that is a topic that is not set in stone at all yet it's iffy.

Sivalta was originally part of New Fricester as property of the O'Malley Company. While the land was not suit for tobacco farming like they wanted, it was good for logging. Now while it was good for that, the O'Malleys also mistreated it much. All the overflow from the crowded cities of Anne Abbey and Cape Stockton and the "rejects" would be sent here and left without aid or protection. When they became unruly, the O'Malleys and later Ingrea directly would suppress it violently. This created the gap between East and West that would play the most in Sivalta's separation. Discrimination against the Valonnese majority was a major problem too. Didn't help that it was state-sanctioned. c.1840 a fire broke out in Stascarth's Valonnese Quarter, totalling most of it. While not proven, it was alleged that it was started by someone in connection to the government of New Fricester. This was enough to make the residents of the west of the state to break away.

On the culture side of things...

Sivalta is a portmanteau of Latin silva(forest) and alta(high).

Past mapping
To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.

  • I'm happy to clear up anything you need. Thanks! Pole (talk) 01:38, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
  • The initial map, which is intended to clarify what part of AR120-08 your are requesting, confuses things by including all/most of AR120-05ƨ? Also, why are you only requesting a portion of the territory?
  • What are your plans for the existing Huntington suburbs - the expectation is that these will be kept and improved.
  • Not sure i'm following the Valonnian immigration, especially given the names put forward. Feels a bit out of place. Also keep in mind our general guideline son originality. While dun and kirk individually are super common parts of names, dunkirk is obviously far too well known. /wangi (talk) 13:49, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Sorry if the map wasn't clear enough. I forgot to erase -05 from it. I don't know how to really put it in words but I'm trying to get the part of -08 above the tripoint with New Fricester and Whitestone. If you were to draw a straight line west from there, that would be its southern border. I'm only try to get that because I simply want a smaller state. I would have gone for -04 but cleaning up the existing mapping would be too much of a hassle. I'm also trying out a WV/VA type theme and I think 08 would be great for that. I may or may not annex the rest of 08 if it's still available depending on where I am in the future.
  • I'm not going to really change whatever's around Huntington, just expand it and improve on what problems there might be. I do plan to make them more urban however. It's good mapping and I don't want to waste it.
  • Indeed I did not think of the many many places in the world called Dunkirk. The Valonnian thing was a bit of a retcon on my part so I'll fix that in a bit. I don't see you complaining about anything else so I'll assume these are the only problems. Thanks. Pole (talk) 14:59, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Changed some names to be more in line with the Valonnian thing I'm going for. Pole (talk) 16:03, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
  • I'm seeking clarification, not complaining.
  • Can you consolidate the various sketch maps please. As it stands I believe the topology and rivers ones are inconsistent with each other? Also easier to annotate on them direct. The terrain to the west, Yarrow River to the north/east and Bluegill River running from east to south through are important constraints. Thanks/wangi (talk) 15:48, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Fixed. I tried to fix any misalignments and removed some waterways. https://ibb.co/BHDwcsWW Welcome. Pole (talk) 20:00, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Sorry, but I do not have a scooby what you are trying to show in that sketch - the colours are all very close, counter-intuitive and don't take on board the Yarrow at the north, run off from the terrain in the west? /wangi (talk) 20:21, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Here's a doo. https://ibb.co/3yQgMLM7. Courtesy of Jr000. I need to go to art school. Pole (talk) 22:47, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
