Please fill in the information below to make a territory request.

This is a reclaim. A lot of the things are the same from the original request, but the highways and demographics have been changed.

AR120-13 - Semlacova

Noun Project Map icon 1463108.svgPhysical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

The climate will be similar to the Pine Barrens in New Jersey. The summers will be hot and humid when the winters are cold. In fact, the humidity of the summers will be very high in the bay region due to the effect that bays naturally have on humidity. The topography will be mostly flat except for the far west side which will include some mountainous terrain derived from New Carnaby. The landscape will take inspiration from the Delmarva Peninsula and the Jersey Shore. Much of the area surrounding the bay will be dry and out by the mountains, it will feel like Kentucky or West Virginia.

I have previously done editing in this territory and I would like to amend some changes to my original highway idea: (thick red = interstate; thin red = state highway that already exists which is intended to withhold high volumes of traffic, segments could be limited access)

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

The name Semlacova comes from the traditional Native American term "zemlieva licova", which means "land of crabs". Semlacova was famous for being an industrial hot spot for both manufacturing and commercial fishing.

Rockwall is a major manufacturing city in Semlacova which has seen better days in the past. A lot of the big steel factories that once called Rockwall their home have moved out into better economical cities throughout the country.

North Semlacova is not a city, but in fact an urban area containing a collection of cities and boroughs which vary greatly in wealth. The industry in North Semlacova consists of both commercial fishing and manufacturing. Although North Semlacova was also hit bad by regional economic downturn, it was not hit nearly as bad as Rockwall and started recovering through gentrification recently, inviting many tech companies to move into the urban area.

The Semlacova Shore is a hot tourist spot during the season. The northern part of the shore is vibrant all season, however. But the central and southern parts of the shore are typically dead during the off-season.

Throughout the next few months, I will be able to be more active since the summer is over and would like to work on more of the shore towns and adding ports.

Although I would like to have the same counties in this map, disregard the highway proposal since it is out of date.

To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful
The {{coord}} template can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - it results in a nice formatted link. Or you can paste in a URL.

I map a lot more on my local client, but I haven't figured out how to migrate this to a web server.

  • Hello, Amicharski! Please be noted that using Bosnian in the territory you are requesting isn't really the best idea. The three South Slavic languages currently present on OGF are all located here, in the region of Egalia, and they are Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian. There's no Bosnian state either, nor would it make really sense to have such a country as a colonizer. I would highly suggest from refraining the usage of Bosnian in this state you are requesting. If you have any questions regarding the language, feel free to contact me. Good luck with the application. Bixelkoven (talk) 20:58, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
  • Bixel is welcome to correct me, but I don't think he meant that the issue was the particular Slavic language, but any Slavic language. This area is inspired by the northeastern United States, and OGF's "old world" Slavic nations are generally landlocked, so Slavic overseas colonialism doesn't make much sense in this area. It could be plausible for a more modern Slavic presence -- maybe through widespread immigration, for whatever reason -- but most of the state's toponomy would've already been established, likely a mix of Ingerish (English) and native languages that were (or conlangs that could have been) common in North America. --TheMayor (talk) 22:18, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Given your relatively small edit history (40 edits currently) and discussion with my co-admin, we will be approving your application probationally. AR120-13 will be marked as reserved, pending your progress in mapping a probationary county. You are welcome to begin mapping inside this probationary area only. Three months from now (by 10 Jun 2023 10 Aug 2023), if you've made sufficient progress mapping here and with the approval of the FSA coordination team, the rest of the state will be granted. --TheMayor (talk) 03:49, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
Keep in mind this is a state in the FSA project. The FSA is a large, collaborative project; consistent communication and coordination with other stateowners and mappers is an integral part of the project's success.
10 Jun 2023 UPDATE: After reviewing your progress and discussing with the FSA regional coordinators, we remain concerned about the scale of your mapping and a lack of lower-density examples of your mapping work, including natural areas. As a result, we would like you to choose one of the following options to continue mapping in the FSA:
  • You can choose to renew your probationary period for an additional two months (until 10 Aug 2023), working within your current area to adjust issues of scale and adding more realistic natural features. If you can successfully do so, this application will once again be re-evaluated.
  • You can also choose to work with Fluffr_Nuttr as part of the New Carnaby collaborative to work on rural and natural mapping there. Once Fluffr feels you’ve made adequate progress, the admin team will reassess the application.

The choice is yours, but if you do not respond, we will assume you will be continuing under the first option. —TheMayor (talk) 03:38, 10 June 2023 (UTC)
13 Sep 2023 UPDATE: The mapping you've done since the last time this application was open still does not sufficiently demonstrate your ability to add more realistic natural features. Additionally, you have not made any edits in over a month, and have only one edit since 26 Jun. As a result, I am now closing this application. You are welcome to continue mapping in New Carnaby under Fluffr_Nuttr's direction, and I encourage you to apply for a beginner territory instead to continue building up your experience and expertise on your own time. The mapping you've done in the "test area" of AR120-13 can be relocated to your BG territory once approved, if you like. --TheMayor (talk) 23:51, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
