UL23d is a region predominantly characterized by mountainous terrain, with a narrow plain in the south and extensive mountain ranges in the north. A major river, known in the Kadah language as “Qutabe,” meaning “River of Life,” originates from the Pashlupezo Mountains in the northernmost part of the region. Qutabe flows from north to south, eventually emptying into the sea.

The eastern part of UL23d features a long coastline, though the coastal plain there is quite narrow. Most of the region falls under a humid subarctic climate or a subarctic coniferous forest climate (taiga). However, the southern part transitions toward a temperate oceanic climate.

Winters are marked by heavy snowfall, especially in the transitional zone between the southern plains and the central highlands. Summers are cooler and less humid compared to more southern regions, with average temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C, and southern areas may reach 20°C to 25°C.

In the northern part of the region, many resources are being developed, such as nickel mines, which constitute a major industry for the country.

A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

The nation of Kadah has a population of approximately 900,000 people, with the majority concentrated in the southern plains. This region is home to many cities, especially along the Qutabe River, including the capital city, Yaladaam, which lies near this major river.

There are three major cities in Kadah:

  • Yaladaam (the capital),
  • Nyerqak, a southern coastal port city, and
  • Zalakhaq, the northern hub, known for having the most spectacular snowy landscapes.

A railway line connects Nyerqak in the south to Zalakhaq in the north, passing through Yaladaam and several smaller cities located on the plains. Another railway runs from Qabukhar to Kasu, also passing through Nyerqak and Yaladaam.

Kadah has no formal highway system, and in some remote areas—such as the route from Boshla to the northern city of Vato—there are no roads at all; travel is only possible by boat or airplane. In contrast, the southern plains are crisscrossed by a dense network of roads, resembling a system of capillaries. However, about 20% of these roads have not been maintained for years, and during early spring, they become extremely muddy and impassable.

A brief description of the intended culture and language

Kadah is a country established by the Kadahians, who speak Kadah language. a language closely related to the Turkic and Tungusic language families. Their culture is similar to that of the Nivkh, Yakut, and Ainu peoples. Historically, they had a semi-nomadic, semi-hunting-and-fishing lifestyle, a tradition that still persists culturally in the northern regions. They domesticated reindeer and used them for riding. In the past, their economy was mainly based on the fur trade.

Throughout history, the Kadahians have been the original inhabitants and owners of this land. Later, peoples from the south — including those influenced by the Japan-Ryukyu culture, Chinese culture, and Nordic cultures — gradually discovered the region and established coastal colonies or trade networks, especially around Nyerqak, which became a key trade center.

In modern times, with the rise of nationalism, the Kadahians developed a strong sense of ethnic identity. Gradually, the nation of Kadah took shape and, amid the great power struggles, reclaimed its southern coastline, becoming the country it is today.

This is a prefecture-level city I've been working on recently. The area makes up one-sixth of the entire province. It is called Pingyi and consists of four counties, one sparsely populated city, and a large amount of rural land. Only two railways pass through this region.

  • Hello Stolas123, thank you for this excellent territory application. The country's climate, geography, history and culture are very realistic yet unique and fit in well with the East Uletha concept. Your past mapping experience includes rural areas, but does not contain any major natural features (such as forests, lakes, etc.) at first sight. Based on your application you appear to be aware that mapping UL23d will entail a lot of natural mapping and relatively little urban mapping, so I trust that you are willing to develop your natural mapping skills in the territory.
