Note:

In the event that I get accepted, as I like some aspect of acv's mapping (previous owner), I request for only minimal wiping, mostly urban railways and primary/trunk roads. I wish to keep the terrain to continue refining it, as it is already at decent level.

An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. It is advised to also create a sketch, you can add a link to this (hosted on imgur or similar)

The new expansion will allow for the area of Canterra to be expanded to around 120k km^2, along with a trans-Canterran mountain range, simoultaniously connecting Canterra to the other countries of Eastern Uletha via Nuen. It will also create two new areas of flatland, one plain will stretch from ??? cape (near #2) to the south of #5, continuing to the Nuenman border, albeit with the mountain range much closer to the Gulf of Volta. (climate: Cfb, temperate oceanic) The other flatland will (currently) be in Sanfield and Centreport. This expanse will have a slightly warmer climate compared to the rest of Ankwoen. (Cfa, humid subtropical)

The mountains will have colder temperatures and an average altitude of 2000-3000m, covered by thick forest in most places and valleys carved out by rivers flowing to the Gulf of Volta and the Gulf of Eiha (greater eastern body of water). It will make it the area with the greatest biodiversity in Canterra.

There will also be islands in the north of UL29e, which I plan to develop similarly to Deimyon-do (fishing industry, low peaks and mountains)

Each number corresponds with an environment I imagine to be similar in real life (topologically). It is as follows:

1: Southern Alps (NZ)

2: (parts of) the Great Appalachian Valley

3: (parts of) Sendai Plain, Japan

4: Chalk Cliffs, Sussex

5: (parts of) Kanto, Japan

6: Malabar Coast, India (without the nearby mountain range)

7: (parts of) Central Italy (edited)

Invest - The Noun Project.svgHuman geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Most people will live along the coastline, the Voltan Plain, and the main Navoyeun Plain (most of current Canterra and Emland). Red circles are for big, main cities. Blue are notable settlements with a population equal to a city.

The annexation of UL29e will raise Canterra's population to around 25-45M people (due to the high population density and rapid urbanization). The city with the highest number of inhabitants will be Hukonaran, the yellow circle in the image below. It will have a city proper population of 7-10M people, and combined with the greater population boundary, will be around 1/3 of the country's population. It will be a technological and financial hub, as well as the biggest city in Canterra and one of the biggest in the Gulf of Volta. Other cities (red) will also be prominent in their respective regions, with some being involved in shipbuilding, tourism, etc.

The existance of Hukoranan will also support the HSR Train line running in Ankwoen and in part with the EUHSR project. There are many connections between Nautecove and Hukoranan, such as motorways, rail, or even flights. This also applies to the whole of UL29e, as there will be a rail system and a decent motorway network to connect the territory together.

In conclusion, this will keep Canterra as a developed country with a stable economy, successfully establishing a presence in the Lantian Peninsula and Eastern Uletha.

A brief description of the intended culture and language

The changed history of Canterra after the annexation of UL29e would be as follows:

Before 0AD: belonged to various Ainu tribes, Yohyaken Kingdom still developing in modern day Canterra

0AD-400AD: Yohyaken Kingdom begins the process of colonizing most of UL09e

590AD: Sopeshun Kingdom invades UL09e.

710AD: YK fully takes back UL09e.

850-860AD: Plague Outbreak in Eastern Uletha, 1/2 of the population of YK is killed.

~960-1000: Alvidians invade Yohyaken from the north. Most Ainu ancestors are killed in this period of ~40 years.

1000: Battle of Kyuoi helps the Isperis Kingdom (IZ) fully regain control of Yohyaken. Izaki Influence on Canterra can be traced back mostly from here. 1140-1160: the Anarchy of the 22 States develops after fighting breaks out in UL09e and Canterra, leading to the Kanetsara Dynasty (namesake of Canterra) taking power.

1350: First signs of Ingrean Colonization, fully colonizing UL09e and Canterra.

1580: Peak of the Ingrean Dagoch. (name used to refer to Ingrean rule of East Uletha, excluding Eshein, Filo Islands and Belphenia.) Canterra's first golden age happens here, when the economy starts flourishing and trade routes start to open more, bringing Dagoch produce to the Old World.

1622-1624: Revolts leading to Canterran independence. (Canterra is called Kwoendae)

1807: First Kwoendae-Aynukitay War, Ainu states seperate from Kwoendae after laws from a Anti-Aynu President.

1810: War ends, reunited as Republic of Ankwoen (Ingreans still call it Canterra)

1820-1835: Independent Golden Age of Canterra, more trade develops here and Canterra starts establishing a presence in the world and reestablishing diplomatic connections with surrounding countries. 1930: Great War. Canterra is an ally of Izaland and is involved in the Blonnish-Izaki border conflicts. 1954: 4 years after the end of the Great War, Canterra becomes a founding member of the EUOIA.

1955-1990: Great economic development in Canterra. Similar to Miracle on the Han River, kickstarted by the joining of EUOIA.

About culture, the majority of the new Canterran territory will speak Ankwoyu, Canterra's national language (developed conlang). However, there will still be populations speaking Aynu Itak (Ainu) and Nuenman in the south. (highlighted in Oserikotan, the major city closest to the Nuen border). This creates a Canterran dialect with heavy Ainu influence here. These people, though being a minority, still have a very unique culture, different from the other Ainus, specific to Canterra. However, in the last few years, the native population of Aynu Itak speakers have been steadily decreasing. Because of this, efforts to reteach Aynu to indigenous people have been revived.

If the macro-mapping of Canterra isn't enough, hopefully giving me a few weeks to detail Canterra more would be OK.

Since I am also connected to Canterra's history, I wanted to share my thoughts! I believe the expansion proposal is well-crafted and aligns smoothly with the mapping you've been working on. It could also significantly strengthen the overall identity of the peninsula. One potential challenge might be incorporating the cultural and linguistic features into the map, as many names currently remain purely in English. Best of luck from Izaland. --Izaland Terramorphing Committee (talk) 12:31, 1 August 2025 (UTC)

Hello Awesomeboy123, thanks for you application. While your territory already has large parts mapped, the degree of detail and realism is not yet there to grant a completely new territory. Maybe a part of UL29e, like ca. 3 regions, would also be a big enlargement already? Also, I cannot see the discord images you link, please upload them somewhere or on the wiki and link them appropriately. Thanks! Leowezy (talk) 08:02, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

Hi Leo!

First off, here are the images that I wanted to send:

https://ibb.co/F4tfqqXq

https://ibb.co/tpdkHN8s

Secondly, the reason why I chose to submit this application is to connect Canterra with greater Uletha and make a bigger, better city on the Gulf of Volta, as well as to expand the influence that Canterra has in the Lantian Peninsula. This connection will be served by the border with Nuen, which wouldn't be possible if I only got a part of the territory. I appreciate the offer, however, as you can see with the diagram, Hukoranan is located quite west, and I'm afraid attempts to draw a new border for UL29h would be unnecessary. To me, Canterra still is very small, and I would like an expansion, so I've thought of 2 plans:

Plan A: I can get the full territory and try to spruce up Canterra as I continue to map UL29e. A bit extreme, considering, as you've said, my degree of detail, so I'm leaning towards Plan B, which is to reserve UL29e, and we could come back to this next spring or summer and have further discussion. During this time, I will continue to map and detail Canterra, and hopefully, that can be enough.

Also, please tell me what qualifies as macro detail and realism considered to you as enough, so I can adapt and further map Canterra.

Thanks for reaching out, please let me know.

Awesomeboy123 (talk) 13:17, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

Hello again,

there's no quantitative threshold for "enough detail and realism", I'll be the first to admit that. And it's quite an arbitrary decision for admins to make, which makes it difficult to explain, but I'll try. Looking at your work, clearly no part of Canterra is completely white, so every part of the territory is somehow defined and you seem to have an idea about what should be there. But once you look at lower zoom levels, you'll see that there's almost no rural mapping, and even the cities have mostly just their central areas sketched out. Comparisons will always be unfair, but contrast this to Remsfalen (an outstanding example for large scale yet detailed mapping), Alved, or Drabantsko. In order to expand your territory, you are not expected to cover your full territory with such a degree of detail, but at the moment, the majority of Canterra's land cover often has many kilometers on end without a single node and there's almost no part, especially outside urban areas, with features mapped below a resolution of ~ one kilometer. You have made great progress considersing how long you have been active in Canterra, most mappers either never apply for an expansion or only do so after many years. Canterra is a comparatively small territory, so when applying for an expansion there will be lots of lenience given, but we do need to see a considerable portion of the territory filled with detailed mapping to such a degree that at, say, zoom level 11, one could at a very quick first glance mistake it for an osm screenshot. Does this provide you with some guidance on this? I hope you are not disappointed, again you are making great and fast progress already. Feel free to reach out again in case of further questions. Best, Leowezy (talk) 18:37, 10 August 2025 (UTC)

Glad to see your response, Leo!

Thank you for your advice. I'll try my best to continue with mapping Canterra.

I also wanted to clarify the future of this application. I'm heavily leaning towards option B, wihch is to reserve UL29e, and wait until next year for discussion. As you've said, Canterra is fairly small, and I would still like an expansion, but, as you can see, Hukoranan is located on the Gulf of Volta, and a long way from Nautecove. In addition, I do consider this direct Ankwo-Ulethan connection as highly important. Therefore, I am asking for a reservation of UL29e, like when I applied for UL29h.

If you can reserve it, I'll also start working on Hukoranan in a part of UL29h, and more mapping that I'll plan on moving to UL29e. This also would not need full wiping of UL29e, as I can alter some parts of the mountain range because I already have a similar plan.

Please share your thoughts!

Awesomeboy123 (talk) 04:20, 11 August 2025 (UTC)

Hello Aweseomeboy. A full "reservation", especially for a year, would be a little difficult; I sometimes do it for new territory applicants to cover a few weeks up to months to give them the chance to build mapping expertise before claiming their territory, but it's not usually done for a year or for a specific expansion project. But what I can definetely promise you is that should a territory application for UL29e come around within the next year, we can first revisit this issue, re-evaluate your progress in Canterra and discuss options more concretely at that future point in time. I do see that Canterra is a small territory in the grand scheme of things and I'm sure we can find a solution that won let you be "walled in". In case of any further questions, feel free to reach out via a message. Best, Leowezy (talk) 20:37, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
