Physical geography
An overview of climate, topography and landscape of the country. With the exception of Beginner territories, you should always create a sketch map to illustrate & explain your plans. You can add a link to this (hosted on imgBB, Postimages or similar, but not imgur.com)

Climate

Since Sauganash is an isthmus situated between the lakes Betaouais and Sauganash, experiences a climate that combines elements of the humid continental climate typical of real-life Indiana with the more mountainous influences reminiscent of the also real-life Appalachian region.

Temperature

Morning fog would look something like this in rural highlands.

Warm and humid, with average high temperatures ranging from 25–29°C during peak summer months (July and August). The lakes moderate extreme heat, creating cooler nights compared to inland areas. However, higher elevations on the isthmus experience slightly lower temperatures.

During winter however, average temperatures drop to around -5°C in January. Snowfall averages at around 70cm per year, with most of it being located in the south-eastern hill zone and further north of the country.

Transitional seasons are marked by rapid temperature swings. Spring arrives gradually due to the thermal inertia of the lakes, while autumn stays longer thanks to residual warmth stored in the water. Temperatures during these seasons typically range from 10–20°C.

Microclimates

Lakeshore areas, moderated by the nearby water bodies, enjoy milder winters and cooler summers. Morning fog is common, especially in fall and early spring.

The highlands, which contain rolling hills and elevated plateaus create cooler, windier conditions. These areas resemble the transitional zones of the real-life Appalachian Mountains, with shorter growing seasons and earlier frosts.

Topography

Sauganash features rolling hills in the east and southeast, reaching 600–700 meters in elevation before tapering off toward Minnonigan, where they become steeper. The central and northern parts are mostly flat plains, rich in fertile soil and dominated by farmland. This varied topography creates a mix of rugged and open landscapes across the region.

Human geography
A brief description of the territory demographics, economic development, land occupation, infrastructure and mapping style

Demographics

Sauganash's demographics reflect its rich history, with the native Archantan Saugan and Minnehunkou tribes being the original inhabitants. Over time, modern Sauganashines settled the region alongside the broader colonization of neighboring areas, resulting in a population that is predominantly Archantan today. Native reservations for the Saugan and Minnehunkou peoples exist within the state, preserving their cultural heritage. In the capital, there are small communities of Ardencian and Archantan Lechian immigrants, though they comprise only 1-2% of the total population, adding a touch of diversity to the otherwise homogeneous demographic landscape.

I personally think the state population would be around 3-5 million, with around 550k living in the capital/largest city of Abita

Economy

Sauganash's economy is largely driven by tourism and service industries, with minimal reliance on mining or quarrying due to the region's limited natural mineral resources. The state's picturesque landscapes, including its rolling hills, expansive lakeshores, and charming rural areas, make it an attractive destination for outdoor enthusiasts, history buffs, and nature lovers. Key economic activities include hospitality, recreational services, and cultural tourism, centered around native reservations, historical sites, and natural attractions.

Land Occupation

The land is best described to be split in 2 parts, one hilly and forested, the other more plainy and covered by farmland. Urban area's are scattered around the plains, with almost none in the hills, but the hills also host the most population due to the capital being there and a more fertile land in the open hills. As with farms it will use a system similar to PLSS, with farms being divided into 1x1mi grids, with almost always a road going around the farm.

Infrastructure

The state's infrastructure is characterized by a modest yet efficient network, featuring 2 or 3 major interstates that connect the state to neighboring regions, with no trunk roads in existence other than a few in the Capital County. The focus instead lies on primary and minor roads , which adequately serve local communities and facilitate access to tourist attractions, farms, and rural areas. Railways connect the neighbouring countries with the "rail capital" being the city of St. Margot. Roads in the plainy areas will most definetly be laid out in a 1x1mi grid, with some irreguralities and imprecisions to be realistic. Most of the railway link will be freight, so little to no stations except for in Urban areas. The capital stands out as the most developed city, boasting well-maintained urban infrastructure and serving as a hub for commerce and administration. Notably, every county administrative center includes fairgrounds , reflecting the importance of community events, agriculture, and cultural gatherings in the region.

Mapping style

The mapping style will be mainly served on Indiana/Ohio/Great Lakes style for rural, and areas around Detroit for the capital region. The hilly area's don't have select inspiration as they're planned already in the sketch. [1] But the urbanism of the hills will be based on rural NJ or NY.

History & culture
A brief description of the intended culture and language

Sauganash's history is rooted in the indigenous tribes who thrived as skilled hunters and traders. As Archantan settlers arrived, they blended with the native culture, forming trade relationships and coexisting peacefully. Modern Sauganash celebrates its heritage through festivals, storytelling, and native reservations, honoring a legacy of harmony with nature and community-centered traditions.

Since the state is Archantan, it will speak Ingerish, but native reservations speak their native languages aswell.

Past mapping
To support your request provide links to areas of OGF mapping which showcase your mapping skill. Mapping relevant to the requested theme & geography is especially useful.
The {{coord}}, {{node}}, {{relation}} or {{scalehelper}} templates can optionally be used to link to the OGF map - they result in nicely formatted links. Or you can paste in a URL.
  • Note, I will greatly appreciate if I get allowed to have time to develop more mapping incase i haven't got enough of it.
