Initiative: Initial framework

The proposal put forward is a loose framework for building the history of a Federal States "Civil War" that took place in the 1840s. State-owner participation is encouraged but not required, as not all states were even founded by this point.
  • The general conflict is talked about in modern times as "east versus west," but there are states that do not conform to this glossing of history.
  • Timing and causes: The conflict takes place during the last half of the Preston Caldwell administration. The admission of Alormen as a state in 1840, and the Clamash Purchase (1841 or 1842) causes severe strain to the economy and balance of power in the FSA. Coupled with a marked downturn in the economy in parts of the country, civil strife hits a zenith. Gellard is reelected (term starting in 1844) as a unity candidate and works to end the conflict.
  • How it happened: No secession of states from the union, although states may have solicited or supported armed conflict against interests of other states. The conflict included various battles, skirmishes, and rebellions by any possible combination from state governments and state militias down to roving bands of armed bandits. The exact details are worked out by state owners in collaboration with each other.
  • Results: Gellard is successful in ending the conflict during his administration and is hailed as a national hero. A long-term result are continued regional rivalries, regional political blocs, the admission or reorganization of some states, and other effects to be determined locally or as necessary.
