Köppen climate zone map of Castine. The south of the country is much wetter than the north because it spends longer in the path of the Intertropical Convergence Zone and has a much longer summer wet season (6-9 months vs. 1-3). The mountains and highlands squeeze water from the humid air flowing eastward from the Hesperic Ocean, enhancing precipitation along the coast and contributing to the aridity of the Helion Desert region that stretches across northern Tarephia.
