The Rebublic of Hyldia is a sovereign nation in the northern part of Uletha. It has a population of about twentyone million and covers an area of approximately 350,000 square km. It is bordered by Frostmarken to the east, the northern ice sea in the north, the great north sea in the west and south. The population density of Hyldia is about 60 inhabitants per square kilometre, with the highest concentration in the southern half of the country. Approximately 80% of the population lives in urban areas. Hyldia is a republic and a parliamentary democracy, with the president as the head of state. The capital city is Karixon, which is also the most populous city in the country. Other big cities are Tyisminyi, Tyihlyi, Aiencaes and Millia. Hyldia is a unitary state, currently divided into 19 regions.

Etymology

The modern name "Hyldia" comes from the old nomad tribe named "Hyihleians" that lived in the mouthains and coast land of the north west part of the country. The word might come from the hyldian word for country or land "hyilevien", but it is also possible that the name comes from the word for mountain side "yildor".

Geography

Situated in Northern Uletha, Hyldia lies north of the Great North Sea and south of the [Northern Ice Sea]] providing a long coastline, and forms the eastern part of the Moniranian peninsula. In the north and center of the country is the Moniranian Mountain Range located, with its highest point, Jyibacqtyi (cloud mountain) at 4343 meter over the sea level.

Hyldia is divided into 19 regions (or laeneir) and every region has its capital city. The provinces are usually grouped together in four large land parts (or omselar), the northwest - Bacqtomien]], The northeast - Veicciamen, The central - Taembromien and the south - Meadonien. Those land parts serve no political or administrative purpose.

About 75% of Hyldia lies north of the Arctic Circle. Southern Hyldia is predominantly agricultural, with increasing forest coverage northward. The south of the regon of Aiden dominates by a mountain area. Around 65% of Hyldia's total land area is covered with forests.

The highest population density is in the region of Karixon in middle Hyldia, along the coast by Tyisminyi and along the east coast of Boaxtyi and Saerla. Eibiryi is Hyldia's biggest island and the two bissest lakes are Silbia and Kaessa.

History

The Early History

The early history of Hyldia beginns about 1000 bc when two nomadic tribes, the Hyihleians and the Seattians, arrived to the Hyldian Peninsula. The Hyihleians, that late gave name to the country mainly lived in the north west part of Hyldia, in present Avor, Roaxmon and Kyilvamma and the Seattians, that was smaller tribe, lived in the east and the south parts, by the border to Frostmarken. Hyldia joined the Ulethian Bronze Age cultures quite late, most due to its distant location, but thanks to the countrys riches of gold, iron, bronze and wood, the trade increased quickly.

Politics

Constitutional framework

Hyldia has four fundamental laws (Hyldian: figaerar) which together forms the constitution: The Instrument of Government, the Act of Apostolic Succession, the Freedom of the Press Act and the Fundamental Law on Freedom of Expression. The public sector in Hyldia is divided into two parts: the State (Hyldian: omien) and local authorities witch includes regional County Councils (Hyldian: laeneir) and local Municipalities (Hyldian: vyicarer). The local authorities, rather than the State, make up the larger part of the public sector in the country. Hyldia is a democratic republic and the president is the head of state, but the role of the presiden is limited to ceremonial and representative functions. The president is elected by the government.

Political parties and elections

For over 70 years Hyldia has had five political parties who continually received enough votes to gain seats in the government. After the election in 1985 the Green Party (Hyldian: Gaellar) became the sixth party of the hyldian government and have received over 4% since then.
