RVK-KSF, sometimes written as RVK/KSF, is the national railway company of Karolia. Its full title is Raudtee Vabariiks Kärolijas-Karolia Statale Ferroviae.
RVK is state-owned and is governed by a trust as well as a passenger representative board.
RVK was formed in 1919 through the absorption of various regional railway companies in the country. The special act of the Karolian parliament was enforced to end the confusing and inefficient changes between operators necessary to make a long journey, as well as to prevent the doubling of routes where rival operators would not share tracks.
The agreement reached with the former operators was hugely complex and involved large compensation payouts and the creation of a set of state-owned companies. RVK-KSF would not only be responsible for running services, but maintenance, promotion and construction.
RVK inherited a huge variety of different rolling stock from its predecessors, and most of their workers.
RVK own all their passenger stock and locomotives, and some goods vehicles.
