Taviani, officially known as the State of Taviani (Nezhrai Taviani in Jalayan and État de Taviani in Franquese), is a state in the East Central Region of the Federal States. It borders AR120-59 and Lake Ashani to the west, Nipewa and New Carnaby to the north, Fellshire and Lake Majoriti to the east, and Sainte-Agnes, AR045-03, the Zhukovsky River, and Unnamed Great Lake to the south. The capital of Taviani is Ramani.

History

Pre-Colonial Taviani

Before Franquese and Ingerish colonization, a Native Archantan group known as the Jalayan people inhabited the state. Nipowee people also inhabited the northern portion of the state. The first Ulethan to visit Taviani was Krystiyan Ivan Zhukovsky, whom the Zhukovsky River is named after. The various Jalayan tribes developed vastly differently due to many geographical differences and contact with other native tribes.

Colonial period

In April 1699, an Ingerish explorer named George Sheritt led an expedition of 10,000 men further inland into what is now the Federal States. In June, they encountered the Franquese at Lake Majoriti. The Franquese had already had a settlement on Bastina Island and on other islands but didn't have much elsewhere. Sheritt and his men defeated a small army of Franquese and northern Jalayan soldiers at Diamond Heights and founded the City of Elizabethtown there (now part of Majoriti), named after his wife Elizabeth Hughes-Sheritt. The Franquese refused to recognize the founding of Elizabethtown and built a city 5 miles southwest of it and named the city Majoriti (a Franquese creole word meaning the plurality). Majoriti flourished while Elizabethtown diminished. On March 23, 1700, the Battle of Majoriti was fought. The Ingerish and southern Jalayans were victorious over the northern Jalayans and Franquese. Elizabethtown was destroyed, many Franquese were imprisoned at the Bastina Island Jail but were later freed by a liberal faction of southern Jalayans. After the battle, the Ingerish occupied Majoriti and moved northward while Sheritt's nephew, Andre Sayang who was half Jalayan, led the expedition westward. Although his leadership was sometimes questionable, he and his men encountered several Jalayan tribes who welcomed them warmly and never lost anyone due to unnatural causes. Sayang eventually made it to Ramani and was amazed by the prosperity, culture, and development. He stayed in Ramani while some of his men led by David Allen went west to the La'akea River and to Rayna where northern Jalayans had invaded. They tried to make peace with them, but were attacked and pushed back to Ramani. However, some managed to set up a fortification at Point Talitta. Matthew Greene and his group of 2,000 went southeast into what is now Simiyah County, Mark Jones led the grueling expedition north from Flodsofje to Nakiya. On December 5, 1704, Taviani became a colony of Ingerland. Ramani was its capital, and its first governor was Daniel G. S. Patton and George Sheritt was made Lieutenant Governor.
