The new Trevers landmass

Trevers revised

The last few weeks I've been working on creating a new, realistic landscape for Trevers. Being stuck for the past months on Trevers and how to fix the mess (diary entry), now, after many tries, I created a landmass that looks good enough to present to OGF.

It started with a design I made for that time right here. This is was one of the situations of how Trevers could have looked before landfilling, which will be around 1600 or something. I decided this would be the design to build on, because I thought it looked better and more beautiful than situation 1. Now that new design is done, and I really love it. I had some inspiration from Boston thanks to User:Refriedsushi on our collaboration page and User:Leowezy's last comment. Some things that obviously have changed:

  • The Ansy now flows around the island, into the bay. No weird island construction anymore.
  • The Vale (name may change) flows into the Ansy river mouth.
  • The northern side of the island is completely changed.
  • The many larger and smaller islands in the Ansy itself for more realism and detail.
  • The weird port gates are to be removed.

Besides that, there are a lot of smaller changes, like channels and a different coast at Starford and many more locations.

While I'm sure there are still flaws in the design, I am more excited than the day I started Trevers. What do you think about the new landmass?

Back to Trevers

Today I have a day off, which leaves time to map something. I have been thinking about revamping parts of Trevers, and the first one I will work on today is the district of Mantess. At the moment, Mantess looks very modern with straight roads, but this is not the way I intended it to be. The west part of Trevers is the area where the first settlements were, so Mantess should look like it was a village a long time ago. I want it to look very interesting and old, so that is what I am going to do today.

June 4

Very sadly, May was a month without bliki. I haven't used my computer much in my spare time, since I was constantly working and working and working. Besides that, school was also very busy and will still be very busy this month. Long story short, I have been absent for a while (at least for bliki stuff), but I'm back again.

But even though the bliki stopped for a month, I still managed to do some work. I will sum it up (also for myself) because it spans a long time.

  • Castmore, Nissony (map) is nearly finished. The surrounding area still needs some work, but that will also happen when I connect villages. Castmore started as a farm, then grew to a group of farms. After 1650, the Rodes Plantation opened. Ingerland shipped slaves from around the world to this place to work under terrible conditions. In 1733, Paroy became independent and short after that, slavery became illegal. Not many decades later, Castmore became object to the industrial revolution in Paroy. A railroad connected the small town and many factories were opened in the area. Today, there still are factories open, but many have moved to the city. The village now is a popular touristic destination with a beach and many hiking and cycling trails that even run across the border into Beaudry. A small but nice town.
  • After thinking for a long time, I have got a clearer view on what Trevers should be. In the coming weeks, I will work more in Trevers again, recreating many things. The history will also be sorted out soon. I'm excited again to work on so many things, but I have to see if time will allow me to work it all out now.
  • Refriedsushi posted a few points for me to describe on our collaboration page, but I haven't had much time to respond. I will start to do that this week, and will also post a few points I really like some criticism on.
  • I worked on the Former country infobox, because the thing did not align things very well and I noticed many people wanted to write about their countries. The thing is now fully working and set up for OGF instead of the real world. This chore costed me a full week (combined with some other irrelevant work), but I'm happy with the result.
  • I created a new template (Template:PA-road) that will produce beautiful road icons for every type I will add to it. The wiki makes you do awesome design things sometimes.

This very month, I will tell things more story like, but for now, this was my first bliki in a long time. I hope you enjoyed it — I did at least.
