Infrastructure in Navenna
Because of the country's location at the Mesembric Ocean and long coastline, Navenna has well developed maritime infrastructure for the transportation of passengers and goods.
Road transport
Autostrade
Navenna's autostrade, equivalent to the Ingrean term motorway, form the network of the most important long distance highways in the country. Autostrade are reserved for high speed motorized traffic and pedestrians, cyclists, mopeds or other slow vehicles are prohibited. Autostrade have a uniform minumum standard defined in the Navennese traffic code - separate carriageways for each direction of traffic, at least two lanes in each direction, hard shoulder to the right side of the direction of travel, controlled access, grade-separated intersections and acceleration/deceleration lanes for traffic entering/exiting the autostrada respectively. Autostrade have a standard speed limit of 130 km/h (80 mph) but speeds are commonly lowered near cities and along high volume sections. Speed limits are also regulated dynamically along sections with active traffic management, which also feature variable information signage that can display information about driving conditions, traffic accidents, road works and estimated driving times based on current conditions. Most autostrade have rest areas located at regular intervals along the road that are only acessible from the autostrada.
Autostrade are managed and maintained by private companies who are assigned sections through public procurements. Concessions are granted by the Navennese Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility. All autostrade are tolled, with the exception of a few short sections around the City of Navenna where the A-1 and A-5 terminate. Toll collection is with few exceptions organized as a closed motorway system where drivers pay based on the distance travelled. Tolls are collected at toll plazas at motorway exits either with drivers stopping at a booth and paying manually with cash or card, or using a detection lane to pay electronically using an on-board transponder. Manual payment is planned to be gradually phased out in favor of using the current transponder system or a new system using cameras reading the license plates of passing cars without transponders and sending a payment request to the registered owner of the vehicle.
Due to the country's small size, few autostrada route numbers are actually in use. The route numbers 1-6 are used for autostrade in the vicinity of the City of Navenna and are arranged in a rough radial system from west to east, while the numbers 7-19 are reserved for main routes in other parts of the country. Many route numbers are reserved for hypothetical routes that have planned itineraries but lack any traffic demand to justify their construction. A-2 is reserved for a future autostrada replacing the current N-6 between City of Navenna and Guinevento. A-6 was reserved for an autostrada connection across the mouth of the river Cesi to the densily populated barrier island east of the city, but plans for such a route was scrapped due to strong public opposition and concerns over ecological effects on the already strained ecosystem in the Navennese lagoon. Spur routes are numbered based on which trunk routes they connect. Only one such spur exists, A-51, which is numbered so due to being a short route connecting A-1 with A-5. The A-13 is about the same length as the A-51 but is part of a longer planned route and is thus not considered a spur.

National roads
The strade nasionaƚe is the national network of highways owned and managed by the state of Navenna. The national roads make up the second tier of road classification below the autostrade and constitute most of the country's important interurban road network. National roads connect major and minor urban centers, ports, airports and centers of industrial or touristic importance. Most rural roads with significant traffic volumes are classified as national roads. The standards of national roads vary based on local conditions such as traffic volumes and surrounding human and natural geography, but follow the requirements and recommendations defined in the Navennese traffic code. For example, the general speed limit is 40 km/h (25 mph) and 80 km/h (50 mph) for urban and rural roads respectively, but can both be increased and decreased based on road standard, traffic volumes and other conditions.
Route numbers for national roads follow a system of three classes of national route. Strade nasionaƚe tronco are trunk routes that before the construction of the autostrada network formed the primary long distance national routes in Navenna. In most cases they are still very important for national and regional traffic. The route numbers 1-9 are arranged in a system radiating clockwise around City of Navenna, with the N-1 following the coast northbound and the N-9 following the coast southbound. The route numbers 10-19 are used for trunk routes in other parts of the country, often connecting the canton capitals with each other.
Strade nasionaƚe prinsipaƚe are primary roads that form the main routes across canton borders or otherwise have an important function for regional traffic. The route numbers range from 20-99 and are distributed according to a number of numbering zones based on canton borders.
Strade nasionaƚe secondaria are secondary roads that have an important function for intraregional and local traffic. The route numbers range from 100-999 and are distributed according to a number of numbering zones based on canton borders.
National roads can also have a suffix that denote a special function of the road. A route number followed by a letter, such as N-4a, denotes a variante, an alternative route that splits from another route that runs parallel to the main route. These alternative routes are often the result of a new road alignment being constructed with the main route being assigned to the new alignment and the old alignment being classified as a variante. The suffix ra is used to denote branches of a route, and often connects a route to another important route, such as an autostrada, or an important destination such as a port.
Most national roads are open to all types of traffic, with the exception of roads classified as superstrada. Superstrada is a type of limited access road that share the same limits to motorized traffic as autostrade, but lack some of the design standards. Superstrade are still built for high speeds and have grade separated intersections, but lack the requirement for separated carriageways and hard shoulders. Superstrade can be tolled but no tolled superstrada has been built to date.
Cantonal roads
A strada cantonale, or "cantonal road" in Ingrean, is a public road owned and managed by one of the cantons of Navenna. Cantonal roads make up the second lowest road classification tier above privately owned roads and vary greatly in standard and quality. In general, rural roads that are not of great importance to traffic between urban centers and minor arterials within urban centers are cantonal roads. Local canton governments are free to decide their own route numbers for cantonal roads. Unlike national routes, cantonal routes don't have to use roads owned by the cantons and the network includes many private roads through agreements between the canton and the road owner. Cantonal route numbers are prefixed based on what canton they are located in and always use a three-digit number.
