It shares maritime borders with Esvolksmark and the Madean Union to the north, and Eshein to the south. To the east is the Gulf of Volta, while the Darcodian Sea lies to the west.
The capital city, Esdranith (Aesdranith), is in the northeast of the country, and straddles the Strait of Carilask, between the islands of Terolask (Teirolask) and Carilask (Caerithlaesk). Other major cities include Calondrask (Caelon-Thraesk), Carennolask (Caereinn-ath-Thraesk), and Sathrenscath (Sathreins Caet). (To be completed)

EUOIA
Terolask was a founding member of the East Ulethan Organisation of Independent Allies (EUOIA).
The country is a participant in the EUOIA's free movement scheme, with citizens of other member states free to live and work in Terolask. Border and customs checks on land and sea borders with other EUOIA members were suspended in 2003, though identity checks remain in operation for intra-EUOIA flights.
In September 2025, survey data from polling company Quantifiet had public support for continued EUOIA membership at 70.1%, with 43.2% strongly supporting and 25.4% opposing[3].

Rail
Terolask has a dense and well-developed passenger railway system, with most domestic services provided by the state-owned national carrier Airns-Sterisets Teirolask (AST). Most of the national network uses the 1520 mm broad gauge. This, along with the wider loading gauge, has historically prevented interoperability with the 1435 mm standard gauge systems of neighbouring countries.
Newer dedicated high-speed lines use the 1435 mm standard gauge; gauge-switching infrastructure and rolling stock has been developed to allow through-running over both VEF and classic lines. In the south of the country, the Grand-Ulethan High Speed Line (VEF Iyleithesraes Lirinith) connects with the Volta Tunnel beneath the Suiderbelt, thereby linking the Terolan and East Ulethan networks. AST operates vehicle-carrying shuttles through the tunnel. In the northeast, the Esvolksbelt Crossing links Terolask and Esvolksmark by road and rail via a combined bridge-tunnel and artificial islands.
95% of the rail network was electrified by 2014, the most common system being AC at 25 kV 50 Hz, with overhead wires. The metro systems in cities such as Esdranith, Carennolask, and Sailminster use 750 V DC third rail, while most 1000 mm gauge commuter lines use 1500 V DC overhead, in locations such as Galeindesraes or Sathrenscath.
In 2025, figures from the National Centre for Data and Statistics showed that a total of 2.32 billion journeys were made by rail, corresponding to 92.8 journeys per person per year. Heavy rail took an overall modal share of 31.3%, rising to 58.9% for journeys over 10 kilometres in length[4].

Rail Freight
In 2025, 62.4 billion tonne-kilometres of goods were moved by rail, a modal share of 34.7%[5]. While the secondary sector has seen a decline in recent years, with fewer coal and ore trains running, there has been a growth in intermodal traffic between intermodal ports such as Carithgrask and Sathrenscath, and distribution terminals across the interior. Intermodal container trains also account for the majority of international freight from other EUOIA countries.
High Speed Rail
Terolask has an established high speed rail network (Veilocitaes-Elathrisfaen, or VEF), built to 1435 mm standard gauge to facilitate international passenger and freight traffic. Construction of the VEF network commenced in the mid 1980s, in conjunction with work on the Esvolksbelt Crossing fixed link to Esvolksmark, and the Volta Tunnel beneath the Volta Strait. The Gaerminses Base Tunnel is the most recent major addition to the network, opening in 2025, on the line between Esdranith and Carennolask. As of 2026, it is now possible to travel between any two of the country's four largest cities (Esdranith, Carennolask, Sathrenscath, and Calondrask) in under 90 minutes[6].
Planned Developments
Two expansions of the high-speed network are currently in the advanced stages of planning. A new 1435 mm east-west route between Carennolask and Calondrask began construction in 2023, and is scheduled to open in 2032. Meanwhile, construction is currently on hold for the northern section of the Darcodian Coast high speed line beyond Gyldeirsraes while plans for the new tunnel it would connect to, across the narrowest section of the Maedebelt, are re-evaluated.

Ferries
International ferry services are provided by the Terolan carriers Maedebelt Lines and Teirolasks-Voeltaes Daemfeirspacket / Terolask and Volta Lines (TVD-TVL), as well as Izaki carrier Volta Kaiun, to a variety of destinations in Eastern Uletha.
The service between Tolgendrask and Sannupuri in Izaland is operated jointly by TVD-TVL and Volta Kaiun vessels, on an alternating basis, and is the former's flagship route. Crossings take 22 hours [7], and the route is operated by cruiseferries of 40,000 - 55,000 GT, equipped with overnight cabins and multiple vehicle decks.
Domestic vehicle ferries link the main island of Terolask to a large number of smaller islands including as Forienselis, Eirscelaesk, Eildra, and Neirremeinselaesk.
Passenger Liners
Esdranith, Tolgendrask, and Sathrenscath were historically significant hubs for ocean-going passenger liners connecting Eastern Uletha with destinations across Archanta, Antarephia, Tarephia, and West Uletha.

Energy
The majority (58.5%)[8] of Terolask's electricity originates from nuclear fission. 29 active nuclear reactors are maintained across 8 sites; seven reactors are currently undergoing decommissioning, while five new reactors are under construction. Funds have been set aside for a further four new fission reactors, all on existing sites[9]. The country's first nuclear reactor, at Eifindloes Hook, entered service in April 1961. The Department of Energy aims to have implemented a commercially-viable fusion reactor by the year 2050[10].
Wind power contributes the second-largest share to the energy balance, with onshore and offshore windfarms concentrated on the Voltan and Darcodian coasts of the island. A large offshore wind installation in the Esvolksbelt was approved in 1995, amid controversy over the possible effects on migratory seabird populations in the nearby Orreseilask islands[11].
While still an exporter of coal, the last domestic coal-fired power station was shut down on 15th January 2026, more than one year ahead of schedule. The steel industry is now the largest domestic consumer of Terolan coal.
