Wisecota, officially the State of Wisecota, is a state in the southwestern Federal States. Wisecota has just over 2.5 million in population, with the slight majority concentrated in urban areas. The state's most prominent geographical feature is the large bay in the south that is separated from Lake Wihinapa by the Rochaix Archipelago. Wisecota borders the states of Makaska to the north, Wauseka to the northeast, and [AR120-38] to the east, and has an international border with the Astrasian Confederation to the south through Terrensonnee. Wisecota has a largely timber and agriculture-dominant economy, with minor manufacturing and mining industries.
The largest city in Wisecota is Saigeohn, a historically important lakeport and manufacturing center. The city is no longer as industrious as its past, now prominently housing medical and educational facilities, with the University of Wisecota and its Medical Center located there. As industry has become less prominent in Saigeohn, some areas of previous industrial activity have been gentrified and redeveloped as new residential and commercial areas.
The state capital, Juniper Bay, was originally a Franquese trade post on the journey from Ardencia to the central Federal States. Through Federal ownership, Juniper Bay became a lakeport and economic hub for central Wisecota and connected many smaller towns to the rest of the FSA. The city remains a significant economic center and is home to many of Wisecota's largest businesses.
Other important cities include:
- Lakes Crossing sits immediately on the northern border of Isthmus Lakes State Park and is mainly a service town along the FS-55. The city's metropolitan area serves a significant agricultural industry, and is the first major urban area entering the FSA from the south
- Seewachewa sits roughly centered between Saigeohn and Juniper Bay and, accordingly, is a major funnel for transport routes and economic flow. The city is home to the state's defense sector, with the state's National Guard base in the region.
- Cambacere is located on the crossroads of WI-1 and FS-55. It acts as the urban center that serves the Valterra River valley and adjacent agricultural area. The city is home to a large Franquese diaspora, which is reflected in the city's street names and historical sites.

State Government
The government of Wisecota operates as a parliamentary republic, with three branches of government. The Executive branch, consisting of the Governor and Premier, and other elected leading officials, the Legislative branch, consisting of an Upper and Lower house, called the Cabinet and State Assembly respectively, and the Judicial branch, consisting of the Supreme Court of the State of Wisecota, which houses justices approved by both the Governor and Premier, as well as smaller courts. Juniper Bay is the state's capital, and houses all three branches of government.
The Governor and other elected officers server four-year terms and may be re-elected only once consecutively, twice total. The current Governor is [name here]. The other elected state officers are the Secretary of State and Attorney General. The Premier is selected by nomination by the largest party in parliament. This can allow the Governor and Premier to belong to opposing parties, which can cause disagreement in the Executive branch.
The Wisecota Legislature consists of a 30 member Cabinet and 50 member State Assembly. Members of both houses are elected through a ranked choice voting system by single-member districts of near-equal population. The Cabinet serves four-year terms concurrent with the Executive branch, while the State Assembly serves two-year terms.
Politics
Wisecota has 4 major political parties, Liberal, Conservative, Preservation, and Native Peoples. The Liberal party holds a slight majority in both houses of parliament, with Conservative being a close second. The least represented party is the Native Peoples party, totaling only 5 seats in parliament.
The Liberal party is defined by a focus on personal freedoms and an emphasis on supporting social welfare programs, including single-payer healthcare, elder-care programs, and continuing support of the "Food for Impoverished Credit" (FIC). This party is considered to be the state's "Big Tent" party.
The Conservative party's leading policies are reducing state spending, allowing expansion of industrial opportunities, and reducing restrictions on businesses, including environmental regulations and reductions to income tax.
The Preservation party is primarily in support of protecting the natural environment and increasing use of renewable and sustainable energy, as well as gun-control, prison reform, and participatory democracy.
The Native Peoples party is a Native Ardencian representation party, supporting the continued adherence to native treaties, protection of the natural environment, and continuing recognition of native language and practices in state government
